Just to check.
I've installed new video drivers and now Fallout 1 all time spalshes with black screen and you need to clean to visible game screen with your mouse controller. Do I need to reinstall Hi-Res Mod or it can be fixed somehow else, or can't be fixed even?
Many thanks in advance.
Is it just me, or are all the links above dead except for the Falche one? Do I need to register somewhere else?
EDIT: Nevermind, Firefox was mangling the URL's after I clicked on the links. I just fixed them and found the files - except for the dialog on on TeamX's site, but I can do without that one.

Is NMA down or something ?? I keep getting a phpBB: Critical Error Could not connect to the database message...
What about a certain mod on No Mutants Allowed that would allow me to have my stats and attributes ans skills maxed out at the beginning of Fallout 1? Will I be able to download that mod to my vista home premium PC? Would it work and not cause me to start 2 new save game's (first, as soon as I was about to kick the Khans' asses, the second, as sson as I got my own suit of power armor) like like the gametap version, which alos would not let me install any mods?
Oh well.. time to go to bed... seeing as how no one is willing to help...

Are you asking if such a mod exists? Probably. I don't know.

Yes

Dunno. If you try it out, report back here so others can learn from your experience. Pretty sure gametap uses modified .exe files and gog doesn't. That might explain why gametap's version isn't playing nice with your mod.

That makes me so sad, I think I will cry a little bit. Goodbye, cruel world! *sobs*

I have the fallout collection version know that I ordered of of Amazon.com. Will I be able to install a mod on there, because that mod I mentioned from No More Mutants.com I talked about wouldn't extract to the Fallout directory.
P.S. Apon checking the file path of the files of that mod, I found that it was supposed to go to data\proto or something like that, which I cant seem to find on my Fallout collection game disk. Perhaps this version is the same with gametap, which would be a big cockslap, because then I would've wasted 20 dollars for not.
I had black out problems also and found that I had internet explorer running before starting Fallout. If I shut down internet explorer the black out problem no longer is an issue.

Sykop4th: When I first installed Fallout I got rid of the ddraw.dll file for better performance and then installed the High-Res 1.3 mod without a problem. The game played great for a little bit until it started blacking out constantly. At first it wasn't too much of a problem as I could just keep moving my mouse to the edge of the screen to remove the black. But now it is becoming a real nuisance. Every 2 - 5 seconds my screen will black out and I have to move my mouse erratically like a toddler on guarana. I read around the GOG.com forums and followed a lot of advice including:
Installing Timeslip's engine fix.
Renaming either the new ddraw.dll file or falloutw.exe
Changing the settings of Timeslip's ddraw.dll
or even downright uninstalling the High-Res mod.
Unfortunately none of these worked. I don't know what to do and it is really, really annoying. The game is playable but not enjoyable if every few seconds I get interrupted by a blackout. Any help, advice, instructions I didn't follow, et cetera? Much appreciated. ^^
Edit: I realized what was causing the blackouts and it's simply renaming or removing the original ddraw.dll. If I were to replace it with anything else I would constantly blackout. Is there some way around this? The original ddraw.dll file makes the the game terribly slow and I can't play with it or without it... ='(
Edit 2: While nothing works for me I realized that simply letting the program run for an hour or so lessens the amount of black-outs to nearly zero. Also, starting a game from scratch produces nearly no blackouts until you exit and load a saved game. Then the blackouts become unbearable until you let the application run for a while. Really, really weird... O.o
Edit 3: And now the blackouts are completely gone. What a fickle game... Oh well, time to enjoy.
I am having a problem with starting Fallout.
If I let the opening movie run to the end or try to skip it, the game seems to freeze. I can still press esc to quit the game, but whatever the screen was showing (either the last frame of the opening movie or what ever was up when I tried to skip it) seems to go through a color shift and nothing else.
This was happening before and after I installed any mods.
Edit: woo. I have killed a thread!

Tiredofsleep: I've downloaded the patche that lets you play the game after you beat it but i dont know how to use the patch. I've never used one before. I have the izarc document so far but can someone help me on how to use it? thanks

kannabie: just unzip the patch to your fallout folder and agree to all what your system has to say to you. after that - start a new game, cause old saves are incompartible with this patch. all the rest you'll get to know when you finish the game.
as simple as that)

Thank you! I wasn't sure either!

I'm having trouble getting Falche to work as well. I unzipped it, pointed it to my Fallout folder, found the character slots and edited the file a bit, but when loading up the game it does not reflect the changes. What did you do to fix it? Is anyone else having similar problems?

While I am no expert in the slightest, an earlier post mentioned that the patches won't take effect until you start a new game. Here you go:

Hey guys,
I've installed the High Resolution patch (after installing the unofficial patch before, version 1.3.3), and it works fine except for the 16-Bit colors option, if I try to use 16-Bit instead of 8-Bit I get a "Failed to initialize video mode" error message. But as soon as I set it back to 8-Bit it works without a problem.
Is there a way to make 16-Bit work? I'm on Windows Vista 64-Bit if it matters to mention, and my graphics card is a GTX285 1GB, perhaps something is wrong in my NVIDIA Control Panel options? Or it's something else. I would appreciated some help about that. Also, on a side note, after installing the unofficial patch the main game menu still shows version as being 1.2, is that to be expected or it should be showing 1.3.3 instead?
Thanks everyone.
EDIT: Never mind guys, I found out, I needed Sfall for the 16-Bit colors, I'm downloading it right now, and the Global Shaders as well.

Hello guys, seems like there is a new high res patch released:
http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1266
This topic needs a note in the first post as to whether GOG are shipping the US or UK version of the game, since that matters for several mods.
