My friend gave me his Fallout 2 disk. I instaill it on my Win7 32bit.

the game runs with high res for a while and will suddenly freeze, need to hard reboot.
I believe it is software problem. my version have been language patched and high res patched.
Can't use the unofficial patch, if I run the patch exe, it will tell me my version is not US.

Don't know if it will still freeze if I get a GoG version. I am afraid that I could understand all story and plot in english.

I managed to figure out the problem!
I read so many people discussing Win7 game freeze and read the error message in event viewer.

It should be the Graphics Card problem (if you have already rule out all hardware problem)
Especially ATI card! my friend with N card always play smoothly. My ATI just keep on freezing!

I have already update my Raedon3650 driver, the directdraw dll still crush.
I am out of ideas. anyone knows how to fix this?

And I find some possible fix too.

1. it should be heat issue but in case it does, clean the fan.
2. try to turn off directdraw acceleration, command line "dxdiag"
3. get latest driver or use mobility modder http://www.hardwareheaven.com/modtool.php
