Just a quick question regarding Fallout 2 download, does it include the children in the den and other towns or will i need to use the fan made children patch?
only want to know so i can be careful and stop the little gits stealing all my stuff

Yes the kids are there in the GOG download, and yes, the little gits keep trying to steal your stuff.
I usually enter combat mode as I walk past them to avoid the steal attempt.
I read somewhere that you can bop them each on the nose (do unarmed damage and then leave combat) and they leave you alone from then on. When I tried that, I forgot about Sulik. I smacked the kid once, and Sulik proceeded to turn the little delinquent into paste with his sledgehammer. OOPS! Luckily, you're not a child killer if your NPC's strike the killing blow.
Now the other lillte kid by the same door gets to stand next to his buddy's blood stain for the rest of the game. Little bugger always runs away when me and Sulik come strolling by...
I think most of the kids are scripted to bring there stuff to Flick. I wasted him and stole all his stuff, and my Karma went up. But the little thieves don't give up even after you kill their fence.

ahh yes the good old days when the likes of Sulik, vic and cassidy would helpfully stand behind you and then open up on full auto....i have missed the insta-gib animations

For bonus cruelty points, dump everything from your inventory except for a dynamite primed to explode. Nobody even cares, save for the kid you just reduced to a fine red mist.
EDIT: Err, and let them steal it, of course.
