Very sorry for the slow reply!
Yes actually, Skype is certainly running in the background on my machine. I'll try having a look at the programs you mentioned and see if it happens still.
Hi again, I've just had a play on Fallout again, this time attempting to follow Paul-cz's advice!
I'm no expert so I have to admit, I'm not 100% on the programs/files you mentioned there. However, I closed down Skype and all additional, unnecessary programs in my system tray. In about 40 minutes of play, I only had 1 blackout, so perhaps, it is more to do with the items you named.
Sorry I couldn't be more help to you this time!

good to hear that some of it helped. :D
Absolutely it did!
Your FAQ was great help, because I'm still fairly new to PC gaming, so although stuff may seem basic to many; to Mr Square One over here, it's invaluable! Also, Paul-cz's advice for which MODS to go for was great!
All in all, much appreciated!

Thanks, it's mostly pieced together from other already solved issues, but better to gather it all in one place. :D

I've got a question.
I found my old discs of Fallout and Fallout 2 again, but since I'm German the games are cut (in Fallout 2 some quests aren't even solveable because the children are not in the German version). I'll install the games now, patch them and look if I like them. If yes, I'll buy them over GOG again, because of all the extras and because they are already patched and so on. My question is now, will the games be uncut, if I buy them from GOG? Or will the games be censored like Steam does it with some games?
Edit: Oh, hi there Weclock. :D
Edit 2: Oh my...I wanted to install Fallout 1, but I can't because it says, that this Windows version (XP SP3) isn't supported by the game. :(

Paul_cz: All the necesarry files have only 2.53MB, so I uploaded them to rapidshare in one .rar file, with the numbers telling in which order to install them.
Here is the link:

Thank you so very much for this! I was having troubles finding the exact files you mentioned in your guide, so this is a godsend. For anyone else looking for it, I've uploaded it to my hosting. No waiting there :)

I also have the screen blacking out issue. I haven't tried anything yet, but it is hugely annoying and happens every few seconds for me. I'll try the suggestions here and post how I go.
Good that you upladed it, because that rapidshare account will probably expire soon and I do not know if the file will get stored there anymore.
As for blacking out, the most important thing is to have all other applications turned off, especially stuff like ICQ, rapget..etc.Just shut down every single program/process and try it out.
bump.
I hope this thread continues relevance with this sale.
continued bumpance.
That ddraw.dll rename trick works like magic, thank you.
