Paul_cz: No problem : ).
It was always giving me a headache to install games that have mods, to figure out what works with what, what versions to use..etc...
So I am glad I finally found the best version of Fallout 1 : ).
Once I beat it (during christmas), I will have a look at Fallout 2 and post here the "best" procedure as well.
Only thing that bothers me is the fact that NMA hosts the files on atomicgamer which requires waiting for every file...annoying : /
All the necesarry files have only 2.53MB, so I uploaded them to rapidshare in one .rar file, with the numbers telling in which order to install them.
Here is the link:
http://rapidshare.com/files/176334055/The_Ultimate_Fallout_Installation.rar
Just download, unrar, install in the correct order (basically just extract the files to correct folders) and PLAY!

Hi!
Just wanted to thank Paul.cz for his "Ultimate pack".
I downloaded the pack from rapidshare (very convenient!), followed his install order and have been playing and enjoying the game inmensely for a week!
0% issues or problems!!
100% recommended!!
Thanks a lot!!
It's good to hear about further confirmations
A request for sticky, please.

Thanks for bumping this. I couldn't get vanilla gog F1 to run after applying the hi-res patch. While my question/issue wasn't specifically listed in this FAQ, other similar issues were - and pointed me towards ensuring that though my laptop display is 1280x768, the game can only run in 4:3, so I needed to set the game res to 1024x768 (for example).

Hi, I had the problem of the game not starting, but I don't know if I'm running ATi Tray Tools, could you tell me how to turn it off? Or rather, find out if I have it running? Thanks!

Click on your Start button.
In the Run section type in "msconfig" without quotes.
In the Services tab, check the box marked "Hide all Microsoft services"
That should show you whether you are running anything related to ATI.

Weclock: welcome to my faq, this is version 1.
<snip>

I was trying to find out whether or not I needed the 'children patch' for this game - which is reported by most forum people here to be the 'US version'. But it's also pointed out that it has no children. So I searched 'child' and apparently about 20 people asked which version of the game we have here at gog.com. And the answers appear to be confused.
Personally I think it's the v1.2 that was part of the white label release. But people smarter than I can confirm that. Anyway, please add a FAQ about game version. As in:
Q: What version of Fallout is available from GOG?
A: Version 1.2 released worldwide. It incorporates some minor dialog fixes, as well as removes children avatars from the game, similar to the U.K. official release.
P.S. I'm not sure about any 'minor dialog fixes' myself. It's just what I read.

Hmm, i got a problem with the above mentioned install. I am getting a graphic glitch when playing it:
The screen repaditly turns black and and only scrolling, moving the mouse and such things remove the blackness from the parts of the screen which get changed by that action.
I didnt got that while playing the vannilla gog version.

because that mentioned install method, uses so many third party mods, it's difficult to ascertain which one actually is creating the error. try installing them slowly (i.e. install a mod, play the game, no error) and then you can pinpoint which one causes the error so we can assist you with troubleshooting.
I tried it on another comp and i get the same error there.
And its probabaly either that sfall1.7z cause that conatins .ddl files or the high resolution mod. i try to find out which.
