The death screen (skeleton in the desert) dissappears right after it shows (I can barely see it) without any action of mine. Is that a known issue?
I'm just affraid that this may happen on other occasions too (like the ending of the game or any other sequences I might not want to miss).
- I'm not using the highres patch
- I renamed the ddraw.dll for fixed performance

Hi,
If you're on XP, try lowering the sound HW acceleration.
Start > Run > dxdiag
Under the 'Sound' tab, set the Hardware acceleration to basic or none.

Namur got it, I have exactly the same problem and setting sound acceleration to basic fixes it. Note that the sound skips only on the death and ending screens, so you can leave the acceleration on most of the time since the death messages are fun the first time but a bit repetitive after and you'll likely end up speeding them.
It's another thing with the ending screens because you'll likely want to see them. It's best that you save just before you win and then change the sound setting.
Thanks everybody for your answers and thanks Namur for the possible solution!
I will try it out.
