Hi, I am kind of desperate.
I tried modding the game with the mods from the sticky threads, but unfortunately I'm having crash after chrash.
I have already played through the vanilla game but would love to get the enhanced and different experience with some mods.

I have windos 7, 64 bit version.
Does anybody have the game running smoothly with mods?
If so, which mods did you use, and in what order did you install them?

Make a clean new installation of the GOG version and then install the Restoration Project 2.2.
To be found on killap's web page: http://www.killap.net/fallout2/expansion/2.2/F2_Restoration_Project_2.2.exe

Don't install anything else from killap's site as it can conflict with the Restoration Project.
Start a new game, as old save games won't work or cause problems.
Don't use the link created by the GOG installation to start the game, but this executable FALLOUT2.EXE in your Fallout folder.

In Fallout 2, I get a crash once in a while, too, but all in all it's ok and not as severe as you described it.
Also save the game regularly in different slots, as corrupt save game files are another problem, that often occurs.

thanks, this is a good start for me.
Do I need to delete any files after uninstalling the game?
Like saves, or stuff like that?
I will give it a try tomorrow :)
Make sure the whole \Fallout 2 folder is deleted, that's all.

When you install the game, don't use the Program Files folder, but a custom one elsewhere. Installing into the Program Files folder may cause problems when saving the game or the game's configuration, due to restricted write access in Windows 7.
