i recently installed Fallout and installed the latest FIXT mod (includes most of the essential mods listed in the sticky).

Unfortunately they screen just goes black as soon as I start the game. The audio works though.

Anyone experiencing anything similar to this?

EDIT: Figured out that the issue had to do with my displays settings. Seems to work like a charm now once I restored to default display settings.

What display settings are you talking about? I just installed Fallout 1 and the FIXT patch fresh again and keep getting the same problem you're mentioning. Black screen with only audio.

It had to do with the Windows 7 DPI size settings in my case. It was set to be at 125% and I later reverted it back to default (100%).

You find these options by right clicking on the desktop, and click on Personalize. Then use the Display link and you should have access to the settings.

If that doesn't work, you might want to delete ddraw.dll and see if it works then.

Ahhh, okay. I haven't touched any of the display options on my computer other than resolution. I tried putting it to 125 and back again just for the sake of trying it, still no luck. I've tried every other trick I can find so far too, still nothing. Oh well, back to trying more stuff, I guess :P

I think it was alpha 3, as I read somewhere else other people had problems with the newer versions. I'll give the newer ones a shot anyways, and report back in a bit.
Just to add one more option to solve this problem (I had it with FIXT Alpha 4.1):
Edit the "f1_res.ini" to use just 8-Bit (the string ist called "COLOUR_BITS=8" in line 19 or so)

I hope it helps
