I am basically looking for-

Turnbased
Solo character
Story driven

Oh and no permadeath

So far the only games I can find are-

Orcs and Elves (3DS)
Great Greed (Gboy)
Nightmare Druaga (PS2)

I dont like permadeath. I dont mind if the game is like Nightmare Druaga where you can personalize your items so that you dont lose everything but I played a game called Shiren the Wanderer where you lose everything and I dont like that.

I also heard of Izuna and Pokemon Mystery dungeon but dont know if they have permadeath and losing everything.

Are there any games like that on the console systems?

Izuna 2: Lose your items when you die but (unlike 1) not your level, IIRC. (A certain postgame dungeon excluded.) I believe there is a way to modify an item so it doesn't get lost. Not solo (unlike Izuna 1) becasue you have multiple characters to chose and can switch between the two you have chosen. (Also affects limit break type attacks, one of which actually heals you.)
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Lose *some* of your items when you die, but not your level, moves, or recruited pokemon. (Excludes certain postgame dungeons, like Zero Isle in the explorers games.) There's no system for upgrading items. TMs do allow you to learn new moves, and after using them, the move is permanent until replaced with another. Not quite solo because you have a teammate who you don't control.

That doenst make sense. Why did Izuna 1 not allow you to lose your items and Izuna 2 did? Was it a mistake?

If it is what do you lose in Izuna 1 (Everything) ?

I haven't played Izuna 1, so I actually don't know whether you keep your level. Both games do have you lose your items, I believe, but there is something you can attach to your weapon to keep it, IIRC.
