There is so much to be said about the integrity of the Fallout series, pros and cons. Which as I read this thread there are great points on the subject being made. However the image in question is, in my opinion, a representation of neither. It is simply one example of new game play available in 4. One can create that if so desired. Or one can create an 8-bit rendition of Zeus sending a lightning bolt through a Bethesda logo. Or create nothing whatsoever. That being said, I can understand where you're coming from. Using this image for a promotional tool seems to increase the distance (some may say evolution) from where Fallout began, and what perhaps it was intended to be.

LazyAndroid: That is only supposed to be an example of user created content. Not a representation of the game itself. So yes, the attribute "extremely nitpicky" sounds appropriate in this case. Certainly nothing to warrant a complete "ruining" of Fallout 4. You certainly could complain with some degree of legitimacy that the new fallout is a bit like Minecraft with a AAA budget, but that is just optional content that you can completely ignore. So, not really ruining anything either.

From a roleplaying perspective, I could argue that since the Vault Dwellers are exposed to the Vault Boy on a dayly basis on their Pip-boy and leaflets and Vault-Tech marketing stuff, the Vault Boy would have become a Pop Icon for them. And if you have a limited set of squared displays to make a reproduction of the Vault Boy, you would instinctively create something resembling 8-bit pixel art.

PS: if I offended you in some way, please accept my appologies. I am not a native english speaker.
(Also I am drunk).

Elmofongo: I'm the opposite. I am a Puerto Rican born with Puerto Rican families and I don't know much of Spanish (My mother brought me to the USA when she was in the army while I was still 3 years old)

Also I did not know the "Pixle Vault Boy" was an example of Mods? I saw that image during the official trailer for Fallout 4.
Not mods, but stuff that can be build inside the world by the user if he feels so inclined and the Vault boy was just used as an example in the E3 presentation.

I don't think I've seen this in the official trailer, but I might be wrong:

I believe that the vault boy pictured was built block by block, Minecraft style, and isn't some kind of prefab "plop this here" type thing.

Okay? That just means whoever built it in game wanted to make a retro reference. It's not something that is pre-existing in the game. They custom built it in-game.

The one thing that would make it worse is if the game makes a reference to My Little Pony because Fallout Equestria is popular.
