Hello,

I'm having some issues! Over the past few weeks I've put in a lot of hours for this game. All of a sudden it crashes and now every time I try to start the game it crashes after flashing a window for a brief moment. As far as I know there have been no changes to the system that the game is on, aside from a restart.

I'd like to finish the game, and this... is infuriating!

Any adivce?

Have you tried to change from Direct x 7 / 9 to OpenGL?
How? I'm running the latest Windows 10 with an nVidia GTX2070 super with the latest drivers, and It crashes instantly before the game even starts. There is no way to set the renderer, and I can't find a config file anywhere.

Well, I found one solution to get to the options screen.
Go to wherever you installed the game and right click on Eschalon Book I.exe.
Select properties, then go to the compatibility tab and set it to Windows XP (Service Pack 3).
After that, double click on that file to run it from there.
Then you can get to the options screen, at least.
I don't know if this is a long-term solution, though.

This creates a config file in the Eschalon folder of My Documents (or just Documents on Windows 10).
I tried setting it to open GL, but it just crashed.
DirectX seems to be working, but only as long as the game remains in Windows XP (Service Pack 3) compatibility mode, otherwise it instantly crashes.

I found a solution. I had changed the audio from my headset to speakers... and it killed the game. I replicated it several different times with the same result each time.

Keep your eyes peeled for this people!

Also, thank you all for your responses!
