I recently completed a full playthrough of Entomorph on Windows 10, and thought it would be useful to provide a guide on getting things running properly as well as how to work around the bee bug.

You'll need 2 things
DxWnd (v2_05_59 as of this guide) https://sourceforge.net/projects/dxwnd/

The 1.1 patch. Available in multiple locations. Here's one:
https://www.patches-scrolls.de/patch/1465/7/42733/download

Now in your GOG\Entomorph install Folder do the following:

Rename the included winmm.dll to something like winmm.dll.old

Open the downloaded patch - "entov11.zip" and copy the files within to GOG\Entomorph\GPLS overwrite when asked.

Create a DxWnd folder in your GOG\Entomorph Install and copy the DxWnd files there.

Now run dxwnd.exe from the GOG\Entomorph\DxWnd folder.
Options->Expert Mode
File->import and go to the GOG\Entomorph\DxWnd\exports.
Choose "Entomorph Plague of the Darkfall (OpenGL).dxw"

Right click on the newly created profile and choose "Modify"
Under "Main" change the "Path" to your GOG Entomorph Install path.
For fullscreen click "Desktop". For aspect correct fullscreen also enable "Hide desktop background" and "Keep Aspect Ratio"
(Note: Depending on your setup you may also need to go to the "Video" Tab " and select "modal" and "Max resolution" if you're seeing artifacts in the video)

Now select the "I/O" Tab (Must have enabled expert mode to see this). Where it says "?\CD" should be changed to "?\"

Click "OK" to save the changes and try double clicking the profile to run it. DxWnd should say the configuration was updated, and whether to save. Choose "OK"

The game should now be running with correct music and error free!

Well mostly error free, when you get to the bee house you'll likely have to temporarily limit the frame rate to avoid an instant death.
Do this on DxWnd by modifying your profile. Under the "Timing" tab you'll see "Frame per second", enable "limit" and under delay(msec) put 15.
Now you'll be able to get to the honey using a full powered armor spell! Make sure to save your game and disable the "limit" once safely past this.
(Note that the creator of DxWnd expressed an interest in this bug, so it's possible that a later DxWnd revision may fix this without need of the temporary frame limit!)

*Advanced: If one would like to run the game straight from a shortcut without having to run the DxWnd frontend each time do the following: Go into the DxWnd folder and right click on dxwnd.exe and select "Create shortcut"

Now right click the newly created "dxwnd.exe - Shortcut" and select "properties".

Put quotes around the "Target" (e.g. D:\Games\GOG\Entomorph\DXWND\dxwnd.exe becomes "D:\Games\GOG\Entomorph\DXWND\dxwnd.exe")

Add " /R:1" to the Target (e.g. "D:\Games\GOG\Entomorph\DXWND\dxwnd.exe" /R:1) (Note that "1" can be replaced with a different number if you want to use another sequential created profile from DxWnd Frontend). Apply the settings

Now you can rename the shorcut whatever you'd like, as well as move it to the main Entomorph folder

thanks a lot
Excellent! Thanks a lot for taking the time to post this.
Can i force integer scaling with dxwnd or run this game in original resolution?
With yours fullscreen/desktop settings there are a lot of shimmering around main character sprite and enemies (among other scaling artifacts)..
