I just bought and installed EECH, and when I try to start it, it just freezes on loading screen, where it says "Loading...CDROM". Reinstall/reddownload didn't help.
I am using Vista 32 bit, Intel Centrino2 dual-core processor and GeForce 9800M GTS. I have tried launching the game with or without win2000 compatibility mode.

Have yoy tried to run under Win XP compatibility too? Also sometimes codec-packs can mess up with the game. Are you using any? Especially ffd show and haali media splitter.
The xp compatibility didn't seem to do much. I shouldn't have any other codec-packs installed than oggDS (if that's a pack) as VLC player seems to play most files without any. If oggds is a problem, how should I disable it?

Ogg isn't a problem, I'm using Vlc too. Also have C2D, Radeon 4870 and Win7 64bit. Perhaps try on older drivers to your GFX. What version do you have? Mail to gog technical suport also might help. Maybe they encountered similiar problem due testing...
I you are not able to solve this problem , please conntact our tech support.
Tech support contacted. I tried with older and newer drivers, but didn't work any better.
Do you have a CD in the drive?
If I'm not mistaken it will check if the EECH CD is in the drive, because if it is it will play some music from it. If there is another CD there it will work fine (it won't play the music but otherwise works), but if there is nothing there it may stall on the check for the CD.
Wow, I wasn't awara that GOG is selling games on CD :P
They of course don't. But the original was released on CD, and it's still the same game, so it still checks for the CD.

Hi,
This may be a long shot but...
when it freezes, have you Alt Tabbed out of the game to see in there are any prompts you need to OK from your Firewall ?

No, firewall isn't asking anything.
Same problem here. Tried the empty optical drive, tried different compatibility modes and tried tweaking CPU cores.
One thing I know for sure is that this is Vista specific issue - I have tested the game on two exactly same Thinkpads R500, and game went fine on the XP box.
Same problem I have..using 64 bit Vista. ..........Fiddling with the Compatibilty box made it work for me.

No the version from GOG is not the same as the game on your old CD. GOG takes your old games and their developers work with the code tweaking it in order to make it Vista compatible. I have the game on CD as well and encountered all the problems you are experiencing. After I read what GOG does to the old games, I bought the game for $5.99, downloaded it and my Comanche’s on the warpath again, no disk needed.
