I downloaded Empire Earth while it was free because I enjoyed the game very much as a youngster and was hoping to be able to play it again, but the game just hates me it seems.

Everything seems to run fine as I don't have any problems with the menus and such, but whenever I try to start up a map it will either freeze up as soon as the map starts or a few seconds afterwords.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium on a ASUS PC desktop (64-bit) with an AMD Phenom II x6 1035T Processor. I've noticed that some people are having problems as well with Windows7 when playing this game while others are not which is rather frustrating for me. :/

I have used the compatibility settings that have been recommended in other threads but the problem still persists. Also, whenever the game loads up the random map part of the menu it lags a bit and sometimes shows my anti-virus program asking me whether to block or allow the program, which I cannot click on since EE is lagging until the little pop-up disappears.
Would this be the issue as to why it isn't working, or is there something else? The anti-virus is Trendy Micro which causes my computer to crash whenever I try disabling it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I really want to play this game again. >-<

OK, some thing you should try out:
1) Have you started it in admin mode? If not, right click on it and select "Run as administrator". If you did, sorry for mentioning this trivial thing, but for me it solves most of my problems.
2) At the graphic options, look for the graphic crad section. What do you see? If there is 2 (or more) entries, try to switch them. It might helps.
3) PS: you should try to add the game's exe to the antivirus' exceptions list before you start the game
PS 2: Oh, and i need the type of your video card. Just for sure.
And there is an error message? If yes, what does it say?

Try these methods and tell us what happened, until that i go and googling a little.

1) Tried it, no dice. :/
2) When I tired switching those it caused Empire Earth to crash.
3) I believe I did it right since it no longer lags at the random map screen.

I believe the name of my video card is ATI Catalyst. Having a bit of trouble finding it.
Also, no error message shows, the game will just randomly freeze up with sound still playing in the background and what not. If I were to tab out and back in it will just show a black screen, if that helps at all.

The ATI Catalyst is the driver (program) required to your pc/softwares/games to becoma fully able to use all of your card power.
But it means you have ATI card, and i wanted to know this.

It's a new problem or did other games crashed randomly too?

// I still searching, but nothing good yet...

OMG, I just read about the antivirus... You sure it's Trendy and not Trend? I was only able to find the second one.

I had the same freezing issue and fixed it. I have a Lenovo Y560 (i7 processor, 64-bit, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730). The issue occurred with display settings of
Video Card: Primary Display Driver
3D Acceleration: Direct3D

I just switched the second option to
3D Acceleration: Direct3D Hardware TnL

The game now works fine with high graphics settings and everything. Hope this helps!

Hi,

I decided to get Empire Earth, but when I select 'single player' the laptop goes to the home screen and then the game crashes and closes. Can anyone suggest anything that may help?

Thanks!

As first install neoEE patch: http://www.neoee.net/
I don't know the policy on piggy backing on someone else's issue thread, but I have a similar problem and all the solutions so far haven't changed much. My problem is that during main menu transitions or pausing and unpausing the game to use the F10 menu, the application will just freeze up for no reason, and will remain so until I alt tab out to desktop and go back into empire earth. Its almost like it completes the process of loading and never updates the screen in response until I forcefully change the screen. Anyways, my computer specs are:

AMD Opteron 6320
Windows 8.1 Pro
AMD Radeon R9 280X

If you need more info just let me know. My email, if you want to get in touch with me directly, is sherlockatbaker@gmail.com.
i am haveing the same problem and i have tried everything and it still isnt working
Same issue here... I can't find a solution that works... Does anybody know if there is some refund option? At least I would buy EE2....
