I am able to run the game in compatibility mode. It has to be set to Windows 2000 compatibility, as anything higher results in improper refresh rates. Anything lower results in application crashes.
1 doesn't work for me at all. Maybe its the drivers (Radeon 6850), but no matter what I do I can't get the game to be playable.

Strange. My laptop with Radeon 5400M works beautifully. (EE1 and EE2).
I cannot get EE1 to run on windows 7 (64bit) no matter what compatability i set it to. Has anyone really got this thing to work

Empire Earth 2 will run on my laptop under Win7 64, but it minimizes to desktop immediately after launching and if I attempt to Alt-Tab back in, it immediately minimizes once again after a second or less.

Empire Earth 1 works just fine, on the other hand.

Win 7 64 and a Radeon 5970 and its not working for me either.
Tried all compatibility mods, I just get a strange jumpy mouse pointer on the screen and its leaves random trails of its self.

Er guys I just found this.

I have the jumping pointer and massive graphical glitches. So far I have not gotten past the menu! Unless I can find a fix this is a non starter for me, good thing it was free but if this is the level of support I can expect from GOG why should I purchase any of these games? I thought they would support the games so that they would run on modern kit! This is plain silly to sell products that don't work with the only excuse is that they are cheap...

Sorry for the rant but I was really looking forward to playing this game but disappointed to discover it's broken. More so that GOG didn't fix it before pushing it out as a free download to introduce their services to new customers. "Here have a free game, it wont work but here you go it's free!" Great advertisement for GOG We sell crap but as it's real cheap crap so don't blame us...

Sys:
Win7 64bit
AMD Hex @4GHz
2XATI 6870
DDR3 8GB @1600MHz
I'm having similar issues. No matter what compatibility I run it in the menu has a trailing cursor. I got it stop doing that by switching the video settings around, but then the cursor starting disappearing in certain parts of the screen.
AOC crashes before I even get to a menu.

I have win 7 64x
an i5 2500k
crossfired 6870's
& 8g ram

Real shame as I still play age of empires and would have liked to try this.

Works for me and hundreds other user. The problem should be on your end. I take offense on that, i have bought plenty of games here and all of them works. So it's not crap.
Obviously its very hit and miss then whether it will work or not on some PC configs.
Its a pity, would have been nice to play that game again.
I'm clued up enough to know my system is not at fault, might be video drivers or something.
