It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

HDIAndrew: The 1.5 changes were too dramatic. In order to implement them, we had to sacrifice that backward compatibility. Calling it a patch is really a misnomer, which is why we released it as EFS Enhanced.

Sine Nomine: It's really sad, EotFS is one of my favourite games. But installing Win7-8-10 is not an option for me, because all the rest of my favourite games run on WinXP much better than on any newer OS ;)
I can appreciate that. The existing mods should still work on it
Do old mods (like Nova) work in the new patch?

Also, thanks for the developers of the patch, finally we have the full game that we were promised 25 years ago...

HDIAndrew: Check out PlayerTable.dat, DoesPlayerProduce
That's an interesting file, but I can't see ships being a category. Does the game simply treat it as units?

The mods need to be updated, and some of the mod devs are already doing so

It should. Change the variable and let us know your experience :)

Thanks. Once my mod is ready to go, I will bring news! :)
Hi

A question, notes say that religion sects got enhanced, and that they are supposed to give a bonus to units/rebellion, but i can't find any info on what that bonus might be for different sects? I am sure it's somewhere in the files but i am wondering if there is any info on that available without the need to search thru data files.

Thank for enhanced edition, i must say i just love this game even in broken AI state as it is :)

HDIAndrew: If you buy, or have bought, EFS on GOG, you have access to BOTH EFS Classic (with the 1.4 patch) and EFS Enhanced. If you want to keep playing your 1.4 save games, you will want to back them up before you download EFS Enhanced. You can use the GOG Classic Installer to install the classic version and keep playing those old saves.

You can see the FAQ for EFS Enhanced at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BZmmqBY2IT79puA-fi-m1ohg8cETwBv6-Ns7sdUzL6I/edit?usp=sharing

You can see the whole changelog at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Qw4w9gEKaVVrhx8JcIY-t858W_QDmRT8eJB9XIJLwgs/edit?usp=sharing
Any chance for a native Linux version?

Not in the next year or so, but it is something we would like to produce

Thanks for a quick answer. We would like it as well!

If only the engine could be open-sourced I'd imagine we'd get a port for many platforms/OSes in a jiffy..
You have no idea how happy I was once my brain started working again, when I saw that update and those patch notes. I'm... giddy, I suppose is the only word for it. This is going to be insane. I don't even mind that I was in the middle of a month-long game; this takes absolute priority without question. Good god. Just seeing the list of "-FILE/FUNCTION- now actually does something" entries is amazing. I see that we can now bombard empty cities, too. I figured out how to make that work many years ago and I've never been able to re-discover what I did. So that's good to see.

How long have we had a map editor?

Offic3rHotpants: How long have we had a map editor?
A map editor has existed since HDI created the game, but we did not make it publicly available. We only shared it with modders who reached out to us, as it was not the easiest tool to use. The Enhanced team did a lot of work to make it ready for public consumption :)

Ohhh, okay. I was about to start kicking myself if I somehow missed that in the folders for 25 years. Thanks.
Glad to see this released.

Can you comment on my goal:

- I'm in the middle of a 1.4 campaign and want to keep the saved games AND the GOG 1.40 code.

- I want to install 1.5 as a completely separate instance and start a new game there.

Can the 1.5 version be installed via GOG Galaxy installer and let me keep my 1.40 which I had installed to an \efs dir off the root of C: drive.

Or do we have to worry about registry conflicts etc?

I would like to see the setup GOG did for the BladeRunner adventure game where we could have both the original version and the enhanced in our GOG library at the same time.
We asked GOG to ensure all EFS purchasers (old and new) have access to both 1.4 and Enhanced. I *think* you now need to download 1.4 for offline and play and copy your old SAV file there to keep your saved games, before you download 1.5. Let me know if you have issues with it

HDIAndrew:
hmmm - I'll have to mull this over.

This is the farthest I have gotten in EFS and had to go through elaborate rituals of dgvoodoo to even get the game to run.

I may complete the 1.4 just to be safe and then try to switching about with 1.5.

Still ... it would be ideal if the Blade Runner approach could be implemented. Despite what the Patriarch says, choice is always good.
