EADOR, MASTER OF THE BROCKEN WORLD - Updating does not work!

Installed the Game, started it, it claims a new version is out.. but the download simply wont wrk. Browsing the requested Server/File manualy works.. and yes the Firewall aint a Issue. :-(

Why doesn't GOG update the game itself? :-(

OS: Win7, 64Bit

I try to test a littlebit around btu I doubt I might resolv it. :'-(

Error Message:
"
Checking for updates...
Connecting to [blacensorshit_i can not copy&paste because it's a "LINK" :-/]
Failed to update the game.
"

If you use a Browser and co you get the File. So the game on GOG seams to be corrupt/brocken.
I can not currently play the game. :'-(

Kind regards,
Rembrandt

Yeah, we know. It's a rather old bug, by now. Just use the patches GOG releases, for updating.

But they said they can't play the game and neither can I, even with the latest patch.

Exactly...
I used the latest patch from GOG's download links and still the game tells me this version is outdated. If I click on "Yes' do you want to update automatically? I get an 'update failed' notification.

I can however choose "No" and the game will start.

But why do I have to say "No", each time "I don't want to auto-update" to a question saying my version is old if I have the latest patch?

What does the patch have to do with you not able to play the game? This is not a trick question, since the patches don't address any game-breaking issue. It's why I don't even bother applying those patches anymore. I just installed the game on a new installation (my HD failed a couple of weeks ago) and did NOT apply the patches.

The game didn't run unpatched and so I attempted to patch the install as the patch includes fixes for graphical issues. Did you read the change logs? I don't see any change logs on gog but steam has 1.6 listed as "— Improved support of displays with 768 vertical pixels resolution." which is a video enhancement fix would was worth a shot at fixing my video card crash. If you really think patches don't include graphic corrections then you should really read the change logs more often. /smh

1.6 is the version of Eador MotBW that you install from GOG by default, before you even apply the patches available here on GOG.

Actually, it's even newer: it's version 1.6.1.

This is Windows 10 and the game asks for the update. Not sure if I applied the patches or not... I had it deployed on Windows 8 but I now use this laptop. Contrary to experience my copy does not go through crashes, not that I have noticed... but I would expect a PATCH to solve this issue. Is this a live game or one of those long gone server companies?
