Does anyone have any experience with the SSI Gold Box Companion that helps with maps and things? I have it downloaded, but I can't seem to get it to detect the game.

Rather late response, but I have used it for Pool of Radiance and it works great. There should be some fairly easy step by step instruction file in the downloaded files.

If you still need the help let me know and I'll start up the game to see what I did to make it work.
Hello!

I'm playing DQK (gog version) and tried GBC for editing XP because of a possible multi-class XP bug.

I start the game and load a savegame. Then I change to GBC, choose the savegame and click "search". The window changes back to DOSBox, now including HUD and map. Then I click on "Begin Adventuring" but then GBC disappeares from DOSBox and in its own window it says "Party size is 0!"

Of course, according to GBC, I have to "Begin Adventuring" before choosing and "search"ing a savegame. But also then the game says "Party size is 0!"

Before saying that, there is a fast disappearing text but I managed to screenshot it: "everything seems okay, opening HUD and map".

No concrete solution so far, but if DQK is started not directly, but from inside GBC, it works.

Okay, not really. I can modify the XP but it only is saved when I load DQK from within GBC. Starting DOSBox itself directly, the XP modification is gone.
I worked it out - at least why I "lost" my edits (not why GBC does not detect the game if it is started separately).

When playing the game (and editing) within GBC, the saves are stored in the "dqk \ cloud_saves" folder.

When directly starting DOSBos, the game uses the save folder "dqk \ save".

So in order to play with the edits made in GBC, the save files from within GBC have to be copied to "dqk \ save".

Okay. That's useful to know.
