Hi all,

I bought DK2 several days ago and I'm unable to even start the game.

I've read this entire forum, tried everything suggested but nothing helps.

I get the application error each time I try to start the game.

Running Windows 8.1 Pro x64.

Definitely contact Support. I doubt this is related, but I figured I'd post this too: http://www.gog.com/forum/dungeon_keeper_series/after_bullfrog_logo_black_screen_and_nothing_more/post4

I did contact support, no reply yet though.

Also tried everything in that thread, nothing worked.

They'll get back with you soon, it's just they're on European time and it is the weekend. EDIT: I don't know if your AV software might be involved, but googling brought up this: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-system/the-application-was-unable-to-start-correctly/9388879b-84e5-44a6-9f7e-1e8865044eb2

I'm running the built in AV in Win 8.1.

0xc0000022 appears to be an error related to DLLs; access denied, missing dependencies or files. I've used Dependency Walker and it listed some missing DLLs which I then copied to the game's directory (except one file which I can't find). That didn't help.

Later I installed Win 7 as a virtual machine and I can run the game in software mode at 1024x768. It's not brilliant but it works.

What VM system do you use? The built-in Windows Virtual PC?

VMware, but VirtualBox should work too.

I've tried other resolutions but none worked except 1600x1200 which my monitor doesn't support so it looks really bad.

Yes, unfortunately, DK2 doesn't work above 1600x1200, and even that res isn't really supported, as the UI icons go missing.
