It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

The hi-res mode was always terrifically bad performance wise when it was released so you shouldn't feel too bad that you can't emulate this mode even years later (it's incredibly processor intensive to emulate old systems let alone modes which were, basically, experimental). The engine was similar/based on Magic Carpet's and that also suffered the same problems, if you get hi-res mode running nicely in either of them (maybe finally possible with the current best computers and newest DOSBox), you should feel quite happy.
Use KeeperFX to play the Windows version of DK in high resolution with great FPS:

Hi!

anyone has an idea how to increase the cycles on Mac OS?

Hardwarewise, i have an i5 so performance should be fine. And it is as 320x240 but at 640x480 it's quite choppy.
And I can't seem to create a support ticket, so hopefully anyone of you can help me out? Would be nice to play the game again at full throttle :)

Sie: However, a better solution in my opinion is to open up dosboxDK.conf (in your DK GoG folder) and change the 'cycles' value from '80000' to 'max'. Now when you boot up the game, it will run at the same speed as the lower resolution.

Grombart: I had low fps too when i Alt+R'ed to high resolution and this worked for me! THANKS! :)

If it helps someone, here's the important parts of my config, though i didn't change much else:

[sdl]

fullscreen=true
fulldouble=false
fullresolution=0x0
windowresolution=original
output=overlay
autolock=true
sensitivity=100
waitonerror=true
priority=higher,normal
mapperfile=mapper.txt
usescancodes=true

[render]

frameskip=0
aspect=false
scaler=none

[cpu]

core=auto
cputype=486_slow
cycles=max
cycleup=5000
cycledown=5000
HOW DO YOU open the file? What program do you use? When I open it with explorer it just instantly closes before I can even see it. Pardon my retardedness but I have no experience doing anything like this.

Wordpad. It's a text file, but it may have *nix line endings which is why I didn't suggest notepad.
