Hello, I hope someone can help me. I'm on Windows 7 and DK2 won't start properly. When I open the game, the Bullfrog logo fills up the screen - but then it stays there. I can then hear the intro video and the advisor welcoming me to the main menu - but I cannot see them, the logo remains. I'm not that computer savvy so I dunno what to do

Thank you very much for any help :)

EDIT: I somehow missed a very similar thread started only a few days ago - "Q: Dungeon Keeper 2 only shows 1 frame ..." by Demivar, which seems to somewhat resemble my problem. I have attempted the advice given in that thread, however, yet not arrived at any solution. Renaming the "Movies" folder does indeed disable the movies (I don't hear them behind the Bullfrog logo frame) - but it doesn't change the fact that the logo frame is all I see, while I can hear the sounds of the main menu "behind" it

Have you tried setting "Engine Id" to "4" and "Screen Hardware3D" to "0" like described in the thread you mentioned? It's important not to run the game as another user, e.g. as administrator or in compatibility mode, because the registry key won't have any effect then. Just double-click DKII.exe within the \Dungeon Keeper 2\ folder.

The game also depends on some older libraries from DirectX 9, which are missing by default on Windows 7 machines. To make sure everything is present on your system, you can download the DirectX End-User Runtimes (same as triock linked above) and install it. When you run the downloaded file, it asks you where to extract the files. Choose a separate folder, as there'll be many files and afterwards look for dxsetup.exe within this folder to start the installation.
