OK My computer was made in 2002 and I have been able to run really old games like arena daggerfall, gta, gta 2, The command and conquer series but I can't get this to work for some reason. It loads perfectly but then right when I load a level it goes really slow and half the time I'm trying to walk but It won't move at all and I end up teleported to the area I was moving to. So any suggestions? I read that I should change the graphics setup but I really don't know what I should change.

I'm using windows xp, have direct x 9, I have 40gb free space out of 60 gb, and my graphics card is Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics controller. my computer says it's 3d compatible. so I don't see why it's running slow.

Were you running any of those in DOSBox? Because emulation takes more resources than just running the games natively.

Also, I'm fairly sure this game is too old to make use of hardware 3D acceleration.

Having said that "my computer says it's 3d compatible. so I don't see why it's running slow." doesn't really make much sense.

3D compatible in 2002 does not mean your computer is necessarily adequate for modern requirements.

The only ones running dos box where daggerfall and arena. Gta and gta 2 are not running dos box and neither is the command and conquer games. I got the game to work perfectly with this other program called eduke32 though.

I am having similar issue. The game runs OK but...only for 10 mins or so...then it gets slow and unresponsive. I have to go to the desktop - game automatically starts working in the window mode and runs OK...for 10 mins...then I press alt-enter to get it in the full screen mode again...it works OK for 10 mins..then I...:)

EDIT: You may want to check Graphic Mode Setup (gog.com/duke nukem 3d/). I have changed the "Graphic mode" from "overlay" to "Direct 3D" and it seems to be working OK now.

Performance is horrible, no matter the mode. Just install EDuke32.

Yep, installing EDuke32 makes a difference. Everything works like a charm. Thanks!

Thanks a lot my friend, eDuke32 is a great solution, GOG's DOSBOX installation lags right at the start screen for me, no matter what I do.
