classicduke: Why don't you read my whole comment? I stated a few things that were bad. I thought it was enjoyable but not the best obviously. They are open to do anything they want now that the next one will be a brand new game from the beginning. Did you forget DNF was bought and finished? It was mostly leftovers.

etb: I read the whole comment, but I grow tired that people dismiss the incredible flaws of this game just with "impossible to deliver expectations." Because it is not true, the basics are wrong.

I agree that if they make a new game they can fix everything. Just think how different is Duke Nukem 2 and Duke Nukem 3d...
Well I don't think developers pay too much attention to us anyway. I would love a new Duke game soon. I don't know if you were a member of the gearbox software or Duke4 forums but everyone has just been disappointed about the future. The canceled DN3D HD remake was never approved which would be like almost the same as the new Shadow Warrior, which I want to try still. The "real" DNF mod for DN3D was made by the communtiy as well. I hope we don't have to live in the past forever and we get the game we deserve.

Well, the existence of invasive drm, defective by design objects, ect. shows that companies does not NEED to care. Why care if lots of people buy your stuff anyway? Why making good games if average ones sells anyway? Why considering the downsides of drm if people buy anyway? In this context DNF is an extreme example, shitty game, profitable for the company anyway. Why make better?

So to answer your final remark we don't get what we deserve, because if we think about it we don't deserve it because we don't care.

Average sells? Hype sells. DNF was hype. The only reason why devotees bought it. We wanted to believe it could be saved. Gearbox has a full plate with their own franchises as we have seen these last few years. They bought Homeworld too and are releasing a remake. I expect a totally new Duke for the new consoles down the road and is probably their plan all along. I don't know your opinion on Gearbox but we should give them a chance to give us an orginial game when/if they plan to.

I guess we will see. However I don't have opinions on companies, I have opinions on the products and people who buy them. Companies exist only for making money, so the problem is always in the buying side.

Yes, I am also tired to hear stuff like: company X is doing evil Y. People buy, they are the problem. Companies very quickly adapt if people stop buying crap.

And yes, average sells. Perhaps in DNF was indeed the hype, but think about the point more in general. For example, all the Call of Duty games are basically the same average game.

Well yeah there's that series. But look at one of those and you can see why it holds up with longevity. People were loving the Multiplayer. All the techinal stuff being fixed for DNF would have made it last longer and not having to wait for DLC too. Send me a message to continue, okay.
Having finally bought Duke Nukem Forever on a Steam sale for 4 bucks a few months ago, I can say ,as a big fan of Duke Nukem 3d,that DNF really, Really, sucks.
This Duke is not the King, baby, but an imposter to the throne.

So much is wrong with the game. Long driving sequences with crappy controls, long periods of just walking around, one liners not anywhere as clever as the original ..and that is one of the big things wrong with the game, It is not anywhere near as clever or funny as it's desgienrs think It is, limited weaponry (a fine approach for some games, but Wrong, wrong, wrong, for Duke Nukem...the Duke without an big arsenal of weapons is, well, just not the Duke) dissapoingting shooting sequences (the only level that is anywhere near as good as the original is the one set in the Old West Ghost Town).

I usually hate the term "Real Fan" or "True Fan" but Real Fans of Duke Nukem hate DNF.\

Fail To The King, baby.

Best thing to do is to forget that DNF ever happened and start over from Scratch.

It's funny how people post here like there's actually a new Duke Nukem game in the making.
No sir, Duke is dead. Gearbox murdered him in cold blood.

Ok, so let's ignore 3D realms sold Gearbox the game like that? I know they have no reason to but it was a waste then to buy an entire franchise.

No one is saying it shouldn't start from scratch. How else would they make a new game?

Vahi: Before I begin, I just want to say that I'm NOT involved in any way with Gearbox, 2K, Triptych, 3DRealms/Apogee, Interceptor Entertainment, or anyone else involved with the development or publication of Duke Nukem games.

Now that that's out of the way, just out of curiosity, I'm wondering what you guys want to see in Duke Nukem 5. Personally, I'd like some new alien weapons and a return of physical health with Ego acting as a form of regenerating armor.

So, what do you guys want to see in the next Duke game?
I would like to have less vulgar humor, as Duke Nukem is such a mature role model for kids and people to look up to. ;)

nope, Gearbox has plan for a new DukeNukem game after Borderlands 3. They are planning to either them develop it after borderlands 3, or have a third party develop the game.

i am a bit optimistic, Duke Nukem Forever was not bad, but it was k, and it is clear the game had development issues. A new duke nukem game build from the ground up with out being in hell for 14 years should be a great game, Something that gearbox can do :)
Anyone care to explain why there are no custom mapping tools etc. available for DNF?

gearbox makes great games? hmm that's news to me!
