Okay, this isn't an anti-Steam thread, but I am just wondering if I should bother buying DN3D Megaton Edition there. I mean, I already have a GOG version of DN3D, and it works just fine with EDuke32. The only thing that really appeals to me is the expansions, particularly Caribbean Vacation. I'm just really waiting for GOG to finally upgrade my copy of DN3D, so then I won't have this dilemma every time Megaton Edition is on sale.

Has anyone else here given in to temptation and bought the pack, even if they already own it on GOG?

Yes, I got the Megaton Edition on Steam, though I did wait until I could get it on a sale price. Can't remember whether I got 50% or 75% off. It was from some voucher that dropped into my Steam account one time. I wanted the expansions and it has them and they work.

I also, at a later date, and again on a sale price, got the Shadow Warrior Redux pack.
There are honestly only two reasons why you would get the Steam version when you already have this:

1. Steamworks being used for multiplayer is superior to EDuke, though I did hear they're working on this...
2. Expansions. Though you can get these wherever, they're somewhat difficult to find. There are however, instructions on how to get them to work on EDuke32.

Other than that, you honestly have the superior version already. I would say if you got it on a good sale, it's worth it for the expansions. Don't forget that there are HRPs for the expansions as well!
Expansions from Megaton work fine with Duke Nukem 3D in DOSBox, you just need extract GRP file into Duke3D folder.

Isn't that an opinion on what's superior?

Yes, my opinion after playing both JDuke (which Megaton uses, specifically the same version that was made for the XBox for ease of porting) and Eduke32. I'm not saying anyone should completely disregard either version or anything, they're both playable.

I deserved that, I rushed typing my post and therefore the feel came off wrong.
