Hi there, I recently decided to play some Duke Nukem without any mods or enhancements and I was surprised at just how fun it is. I didn't grow with with Duke, but just curious does anyone else play in on vanilla?

The hi rex patch, do you need eduke 32 to run that, or can you run it without eduke?

To the best of my knowledge, you need eDuke.

I'm a traditionalist. So I tried it with DOS Box, but couldn't enjoy it very much because I was experiencing out-of-sync sound effects, plus there were a few graphical glitches. I couldn't find a solution to this, so I went for eduke32 and haven't looked back. I play eduke32 as vanilla as I can, with no mods, and think it's the best way to go:
- No glitches (that I'm aware of).

- The sound all works perfectly fine.

- More customisation: You can tinker and add as much - or as little - as you want. You can strip it down to the original and limit mouse control if you prefer.

- Eduke32 is the best way to play on modern setups. They give it HD presentation, widescreen, and have cleaned the sound up so even though it's slightly different if you do a side-by-side, after 5 minutes of playing you forget and would swear it was the original. This is the original how it should be seen through today's eyes (or LCD monitors).
