I'm running Vista SP1 and every time I launch DN3D, dosbox loads, the loader screen for duke loads, and it seems to get down to the duke.cfg and then it crashes. The screen doesn't stay up long enough for me to see it, but it happens every time in this spot.
I'm at a loss here... :(

Hi!

I've got a similar problem only that I don't even get to see any launch screen. I just try to run the game, DosBox starts, the screen flickers a couple of times and then DosBox shuts down.

I tried the admin mode, I tried changing the 3D Graphics mode but nothing worked.
Try using eduke32 with files from GOG-installation (duke3d.grp & duke.rts).

TRY RUNNING THE GAME WITH DOSBOX OR WITH EDUKE32. DO NOT RUN THE GAME USING WINDOWS COMMAND PROMPT.
If you run the game in DOSBox without gogwrapper.exe it may give you a message like "Error initializing sound" before quitting back to the command prompt. This happened to me and it didn't matter what sound options I chose in SETUP.EXE. Basically I had to scrap using DOSBox and switch to EDuke32. It's a great source port anyway, so there's no real point in adhering to DOSBox anyway.

EDuke32 homepage
Some additional Info: While running Windows 7, .I ran into a similar problem and could get the game to come up and stay up.
I opened the icons compatibility mode tab from the desktop icon and checked the Windows XP SP3 setting and restarted the game with no problem.

Hope this helps someone else.
Duke 3d must be run in windows 7 in admin mode under properties/compatibility check run as administrator.
Alternatively just dont install into Program Files.
Program Files(x86) precisely, looks like a conflict over Administrator rights or something.

Got the same issue here, solved thanks to this thread & EDuke32.
Hey, I did evertything here. Running as Admin, with XP SP3 compatibily, changed graphic to OpenGL and I can only hear the sound very laggy. I dunno why. I really need help here...

More info, when I change the graphics in the app, it freezes completely or stays in loading primary settings.
