We got Duke Nukem 3D and Duke Nukem Manhattan Project both from GOG. Any chance of getting Duke Nukem Forever at GOG in near future ?
Wouldn't be surprised with the new price points. We'd need Take 2, though.
GoG gave up to their ``old'' games policy.
But in this case they should give up also to their ``good'' games policy. I would say it is difficult.

It's GOG not GoG. Also, 'good' is a matter of personal taste and perspective. Sure, DNF wasn't as great as everyone had hoped it to be. Waiting for it for so long had people building up their expectations. If you went in to it expecting greatness then yes you would have been disappointed. Me, I went in expecting average and for that I quite enjoyed it. Played it through, got the mission pack and played that through too.

As for it coming to GOG, I'd say it isn't too likely at the moment because it is a Steamworks title and only came out last year. I'm not sure if we'll ever get Steamworks titles here at GOG but we can hope that one day we might.
It is not a matter of expectation. DNF is bad because: the levels seems pipes, you can carry only two weapons (four with the patch), the health regenerates in a ridiculous way; the levels contains plenty of immortal NPC with bad AI (throw a shit piece in their face and... nothing); the main character become a crazy psychopathic, instead of the lovely tough guy we love; there are unskippable long cutscenes.

It is made even worse because in the same period the two Serious Sam HD were released making the flaws even more evident.

As I said, whether a game is thought of as good or bad is personal opinion.

Also, you clearly expected it to not have weapon carry limits, useless NPCs, etc, so as it does you dislike it, therefore it is expectation. I read up on all of these aspects of the game beforehand so that I knew what to expect, and with that in mind I played through it fine and treated it for what it is, a sci-fi shooter without the need for much thinking.

As for Serious Sam HD coming out inbetween Duke3D and DNF, the game passed between how many developers and with how many delays? The released game is not indicative of a game released at the date it was released, but one dated maybe 3 years prior. Gearbox just inherited what was there and tied it up where required in order to get it released. Don't think of DNF as a 2011 game, but instead as a 2008 game.

Anyway, enough of DNF opinion, for it to come here to GOG we'd need to get Steamworks titles showing up on here before it could be sold by GOG.

By the way, GOG now has no meaning. It used to be an acronym for Good Old Games, as in the Good Old Days, which we also know were not universally 'good' either. However, now GOG is just a name that has no meaning. The staff who post here on the forums have said so themselves.

This what I expected. What I got was what I written before.

Irrelevant. What it counts is the game: I spoke of how much the game was bad, not its development hell. Want to talk about it too? (I hope not!)

Still irrelevant. I think the original DN3D is still good. It is not a matter of years.
And... DN3D does not have stupid NPC, the duke as a crazy psychopathic...

Agreed.... even because if (when I hope) DNF appear here I will buy it... I just love too much the duke.

Come on... that one what a witticism.

So... gog, give us more drm-free duke.

We clearly aren't going to agree on DNF (and hence that in itself proves that 'good' is a matter of opinion and perspective).

A witticism? I was being neither witty nor ironic, I was simply stating the facts. For the meaning of GOG.com, see their relaunch page:
http://www.gog.com/news/bigger_fresher_newer_see_whats_new_on_gogcom

They state:

"... the transition from Good Old Games to simply GOG.com. It doesn’t matter what G, O, and G stand for, Gee Oh Gee dot com stands for high-quality, DRM-free gaming, each week with bigger and newer games."

I'm sure they also said this in the conference video last week and I know I've seen it said by GOG staff members in the forums.

You don't have to throw those turds around, you know. ;)

Anyways.. I didn't expect much due to the delays, but like some others I was also a bit let down by the fact that the game comes close to a rail shooter in some ways. More freedom to make your own ways through the SP campaign would indeed have been nice, in my opinion. The game does give me some of that old "Duke feeling," though.
@Korel
I meant: I just said a joke about how DNF is bad. I was stating nothing about GOG meaning or what not. I really wonder why you are so annoyed. Really... come on.

@Primate
Turds? Seriously, try playing both DN3d and DNF the same day.

I did, I really didn't notice much difference in personality, really, beyond being a bit more self-obsessed. In fact, I think the protagonists of all the big 4 Build engine games were at least a little psychopathic. I was a little surprised, myself, I was expecting a huge difference, the game having been in development for 14 years and all.

Even ignoring that, I thought it was a pretty solid game, myself. Still hate the octobrains.
Wow, nice to see all this (for me unexpected) love for DNF. It is good, it means we can probably have more duke in the future. And considering I much I disliked DNF I can only expect a better game.

I hope so. Ideally one with a... less decompressed production cycle.

Can't say I've noticed much of a difference in the way he is portrayed in these games. Regardless, I perceive his character (and some of the others in DNF) as a walking satire poking some fun at egoism, macho bull etc. I really don't think the Duke Nukem universe was ever meant to be taken very seriously. :)

Well, yes. Duke Nukem is fun also for its excessive stereotypical representation of the tough hero. But we all know that stereotypes exist because they work.

The thing of the crazy psychopath come from the fact Duke starts killing the women he wanted to rescue (and ``use'' them later, I guess) because they were already infected and he continues cracking jokes as the situation is fun. Of course Duke likes blowing stuff up. It is the point. But seeing him enjoying killing women sounded weird to me.
In DN3d we got many girls in similar situation, but Duke never cracks jokes about the bad situation.

Maybe I got it too seriously :) . Yet, I still think other points remain. Seriously? Two weapons? What? Pipe levels? Why? Regenerating health?
It seems they wanted to make the levels very quickly and so removed armor, health pack, keys... And we all know that you cannot think ``DNF'' and ``very quickly'' in the same sentence.
