Hello,
the game is not saving correctly.
if i save the game and then quit to windows (via menu, not alt+f4), the next time i start the game, it creates a new savegame, it starts again from the prologue. i also have to reconfigure the options like subtitles, gamma, etc.

BUT, if i save and exit to title, and then reload the game without quitting, the game is loading the save correctly at the right place.

i looked in the savegame directory in %appdata% and the files have the correct time and date. if i delete it the galaxy client redownload the save file.

i tried to disable the cloud sync and delete the local save file. same issue.
i tried to set the game in offline mode, same issue

i really really want to enjoy this game.
please help.

bye

Did you mod the game in any way? It happened to me only once and was fixed by verify / repair option in Galaxy Client.

HI, no mods.
already verified/repaired twice.

FYI, i did not downloaded the game via the galaxy but i downloaded the game via browser and installed on the computer using the setup.
this because I was in a place with faster connection than my home.
on my computer the galaxy client is installed and updated. others games works fine.

Thanks

Could you send me DDDA.SAV file to thiev-at-gog.com?
I might be able to 'hotfix' this particular save, at least for now.

We'll try to replicate the issue and find the cause, but for now we haven't encounter such problem during tests.

yes I will send you the save file in a few hours.

thanks
Check save path, or file is not set to read only, this can fool some games into thinking saves are being made, when they are not.
settings on properties window, for folder, or file.
This issue revealed a rather peculiar case: save file is case-sensitive
short version: it has to be named DDDA.sav or the game won't read it

I'll pass that info along to the dev, hopefully it's easily fixable.

Strange, this mod uses lower case.
dinput8.dll hooks by Jaryn123

That timestamps it's save copies in this foemat
ddda_2017-06-14_02-42-08.sav

instead of renaming it to the standard
DDDA.sav

Likely removed the timestamp part, and assumed it would work, and it appears it did with Steam version.
Mod page states
If you need to revert to previous save, simply rename it to "ddda.sav".
Somethings changed in GOG release.
Has there been any fix to this? I've run into the same exact issue and after reinstalling, verifying the game numerous times, etc., nothing solves the problem. I've lost a good evening of progress to this, and am really ready to ask for a refund for the game as this is simply game-breaking. :(

Rename yout save to this
DDDA.sav

It's case sensitive, on GOG, weird but it works with correct name

I'm having the same issue and have tried all the troubleshooting including making sure my save file was in the proper case. Safe mode, reinstalling, running everything as administrator, even copying the save file from user data folder to actual game's native save folder.. nothing works. Starts me at the beginning of the game every time I boot the game up fresh.
I am having the issue as well. My file is in the correct CAPS. I am not using mods. I have verified my game. Every time I completely exit the game, the next time I come back to it, the game starts from the beginning as if I am playing it for the very first time. It is infuriating! I spend about 6hrs playing in the first day I owned the game only to have that progress completely vanish and I can't believe that it is not only happening to other people, but that there isn't a solution to be found anywhere.
so far i have had no problems with saves
i always exit to title then quit the game from there

side note: i bought the game the day it released

Only other thing I can think of is what I mention above.

The game appears to save correctly, but no changes are actually made to the files.
