Keep your Divinity: Original Sin up to date, automatically!

The new Divinity: Original Sin launcher app is up for grabs on GOG.com, and you can download it either Windows format or Mac OS X format. The launcher provides auto-patching for the game, so you don't need to monitor, download, and install the updates manually (but - if that's your preference - you still can).

The app is going to download any and all updates as soon as we upload them to GOG.com (as long as your PC is online, of course). This is one of the basic functions that will be provided by games by our upcoming optional Galaxy client. The launcher, however, is not a part of Galaxy yet (even if it has the name popping up here and there), so please don't consider it as such. Yes, it does use some of the Galaxy infrastructure, but it does not have that much to do with what we're going to introduce in the final Galaxy client.

If you're in The Witcher Adventure Game beta program and you're trying out the game, you've already got the launcher installed, you still need to grab and install this one to get an upgrade with the features dedicated to Divinity: Original Sin. You shouldn't have any problems doing so, but if some kind of conflict occurs (it is possible in very rare cases), please contact our support team.

EDIT:
The D:OS launcher will work with our releases from 2.5.0.11 onwards. If, after the launcher gets installed, you have no additional icon and / or the old one still leads directly to the game (and not the launcher), please contact our Support team and they should be able to help you.

So to be clear, I need to remove the one that came with the Witcher Adventure Game beta and replace it with this one instead?

They won't allow me to put them both on the same system... this is a statment.
I downloaded the game some time ago. I could install the first patch that came afterwards without problems. But when I tried to install any later patches there was an error massage ("cannot find the game" or "wrong version" or something like this). I finished the game with my old version without any problems (no crashes or mayor bugs).

If I want to use the launcher, I have to download the newest version of the game and hope that all future patches fit to the patch before, right?

PS: Why is the version number of your patch file different from the version number ingame?
Like your patch file was 1.74 and in game it was 2.6xxxxx.

right. That sucks.
There is an topic on the wish list for that:

Cool, seems to work fine, 1.9 G to download instead of 10 G.

If someone (like me) is wondering why it's stuck so long (~10 minutes) at "Initializing", it's because it's checking all your already installed files... on mac you can follow the process in /Users/Shared/Galaxy/Logs/GalaxyClient.log if you really wish to.

¿~10 minutes? Yesterday was "initializing" since 19.30 pm till 2 am... And now is doing the same. I think I won't try it with this kind of launch.

Edit: Ok, I think my problem was that the launcher's shortcut didn't appear, so GOG's support advise me to search (Win+S) "GOG Launcher" and run it. Now works great, thanks guys! :D

They are the same launcher really and should work fine for both games. The difference is that, due to it's beta state, the installer of the launcher is responsible for creating the shortcut in start menu (or in modern UI).

And just to clear any confusion: the Divinity launcher installer will not create a shortcut on the desktop - this is deliberate. It will create a shortcut named GOG Launcher in the Menu Start/Modern UI. Should you wish to have one on the desktop, just move/copy it there.

Hi Tolya, Thiev and G-Doc,

I have both Witcher and Divinity games installed. When attempting to launch GOG Launcher (included in this post) I get 'NOT AUTHORIZED" under green [PLAY] button.

I am running Windows 8.1 and at C:\ProgramData\GalaxyClient\logs\GalaxyClient.log ... I see the following, example:

2014-09-10 10:21:03 [galaxy_client][Warning]: Error 404 while checking game ownership
2014-09-10 10:21:03 [galaxy_client][Warning]: Checking user licences for gid 1207664923 failed - user is not authorized
I have the very latest version of the game + including hotfix patch. Witcher does not have problems updating.

Thank you.

UPDATE:
Found the issue. While browsing the logs in that file I found these lines:

2014-09-10 10:40:32 [galaxy_client][Information]: Loading minimanifest C:\GOG Games\The Witcher Adventure Game\goggame-1207664653.info
2014-09-10 10:40:32 [galaxy_client][Information]: Loading minimanifest C:\GOG Games\Divinity - Original Sin\goggame-1207664853.info
2014-09-10 10:40:32 [galaxy_client][Information]: Loading minimanifest C:\GOG Games\Divinity - Original Sin\goggame-1207664923.info
According to the launcher (I made shortcut to the desktop), it was referring to

"C:\Program Files (x86)\GalaxyClient\GalaxyClient.exe" /gameId=1207664923 /command=launch /path="C:\GOG Games\Divinity - Original Sin"
I made adjustment to point to

"C:\Program Files (x86)\GalaxyClient\GalaxyClient.exe" /gameId=1207664853 /command=launch /path="C:\GOG Games\Divinity - Original Sin"
... and I think it worked.

Would you know by any chance what those id's represent? Should I just delete/rename one .info (+ .ico) file from that directory?

Ok but what has that got to do with my post?

I was saying you can't install the two together as was implyed by the op... I know why that can't be done... I have removed the bata witcher game now so don't need any help but thanks any way.

Actually that is your answer. Both are the same launcher, so it can't be installed twice. Also, right now it can only run a single instance.

Why would you want both launchers when they will eventually update to one newest version anyway?

G-Doc: The launcher provides auto-patching for the game, so you don't need to monitor, download, and install the updates manually (but - if that's your preference - you still can).
If I have the Windows 1.0.132 version installed, and the 1.0.130 to 1.0.169 patch is 300 MB, why does the launcher want to download 7444 MB of data?
OK. The launcher crashed in the middle of updating and I can't select "Play" anymore. Must I re-install the whole game?

Did you try the launcher again, and see if it can recover?

For Windows, did you try downloading the patch, and updating that way?
The Mac version doesn't work. Every time I run the launcher, it tries to redownload and install the entire game, even though I just downloaded and installed the latest version (again) from GOG. Kind of defeats the purpose of an auto patching system, doesn't it?
