Is there any way to put Disciples II on widescreen?
Thanks :)

Also, I've tried every solution posted in the Disciples forum to fix the flickering screen issue. Nothing works.
I've tried putting compatibility to XP SP3, 640x480 in properties > compatibility.
Also tried the settings - 1240, 1024 and 800. Nothing. Compatibility, nothing. Direct 3d, nothing.
Anyone got any ideas? =\
It runs fine, but the flicker is jarring to the eye and I would prefer to play it in eye-candy mode.
I'm running Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit, i7 930 chip with a GTX 460...?

Due to the world map and backgrounds being 2d I don't think its possible, searching widescreengaming forum seems to confirm that.
As for the flickering have you made sure that you don't have anything forced on in your nvidia control panel like Anti aliasing?
If you don't or that doesn't work you could try forcing v-sync on the game with the nvidia control panel.

Thank you for widescreen response. Ah well.
Regarding the AA, nup. All forced off. And I tried forcing v-sync. No luck... Any other suggestions? It's not really a flicker so much as horizontal lines through the whole screen whenever there is a spell effect on, be it casting a land spell or in the battle screen (which is far worse as many of the characters have spells blazing around them anyway - thus leading the screen to have permanent lines, whereas the land screen is fine until you cast something)
It's very weird.
P.s. Sorry for slow response, my ram stuffed up and had to take it back to the shop... Bah. They had given me kit ram with the wrong specs, no wonder.
Just to clarify = the ram was crashing my computer, it had nothing to do with the game :)
BUMPBUMP again....

REALLY want to play this game without these horrible effects.... :LBump....

Not really sure what the lines but I'd take a guess that its because your running an gtx460 and its a driver problem. Could you take a screenshot of the lines and post it on here?
Here you go.

Saved it at worst settings - I'm on dialup y'see.

Still not sure why thats happening other then if it was a driver issue. I don't think the gtx460 has any drivers old enough to bother rolling back to to see if that was the issue though.

A few more guesses, you say you tried the compatibility does that include disabling desktop composition and visual themes?

Also is that graphics card overclocked?

I have not overclocked the GTX460... And I'm pretty sure I've tried every single compatibility option available, but will try in the morning, it's way past bedtime for me :) Cheers bro, you really are a whiz.

GameRager: Did you TRY HERE:

http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/

It's a site with fixes and patches to get older games running in widescreen...lemme know if it helps. I used it on "PAINKILLER: Heaven's got a hitman" and it works awesome.
Thank you for trying - but it has been said that you cannot do widescreen with 2d games due to the aspect being locked.
The question now is how to get rid of these grotty lines.
I am not sure if you can run the game from safe mode...but have you tried that? Doing that would load only the base drivers for your system and if the game works this may point to the problem being a driver compatibility issue.
From your start menu in the search box type msconfig and choose safe boot.
I hope this helps you work towards a solution!

I managed to play widescreen leaving configuration in 800X600, everything unticked, and using Nvidia control panel. In this panel I used the Adjust desktop positioning and size, by ticking prevent games and apps from adjusting aspect ratio, and selecting gpu as the scaling agent, then I ticked full screen, and it is working amazingly well.

This worked for my flickering screen problem. It helped for all my problems, except for the lack of widescreen. Anyone found a new solution in the time between posts? D:

Please show a screenshot of how it looks. Perhaps I too should look into getting it into widescreen.
