I noticed that for some reason there are two versions of the novelization, by Alan Dean Foster, included for free when you purchase the game. One is the original English text, the other is the Brazilian-Portuguese translation.

But for some reason the Brazilian novel cover shows four astronauts, not three. In other words, it uses the cover art from Brian Moriarty's version of The DIG.

Was this actually the original cover used for the Brazilian translation of the novel? And if so, why would the publishers make such an evident mistake?

Also, the GOG.com team put up two different editions of the novel, and scanned in the original game manual, but they didn't bother to put up the official Strategy Guide, by LucasArts employee Jo Ashburn? I'm disappointed.
The Brazilian version on GOG just uses my restored 4 astronaut version from my LucasArts Posters project (http://poster.mixnmojo.com), so it's just fan-made and not official. The painting itself was made while the game was still in production, hence the 4 astronauts. It was later changed to match the 3 protagonists of the final game. But hey, I would have thought you'd recognize my version from miles away ;-)

Interesting, I could scan my German edition of the novelisation, if GOG is interested.
Well, *I* would be interested. The novel goes for over 30 Euros used on Amazon, which is a liiitle steep for an old 250 page paperback...

For almost the same price you can get hardcover edition: http://www.amazon.de/R%C3%A4tsel-Cocytus-gleichnamigen-Bestseller--Computerspiel/dp/3802524365/ref=sr_1_6?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1427193021&sr=1-6&keywords=the+dig

Other details, though mostly not better prices besides one strange for 37 cents look into your PM.
Thanks, guys, for this info. Before buying the Gog version I bought the game when new and completed it long ago, but of course that's all I recall of it...so a replay will be fun--and I want it for my game collection! I never read the novella...but I shall read this one...;) (Generally, I don't much care for "novellas"--as I much prefer giant, foot-thick novels...! But I will give this one a shot! )
