I deffinetly recommend playing the game with a friend or two under the ironman rules.

The main rule of Ironman is that you can not return to Town once you got into the church and you can not make "Restart in town" once you die, this mean that you can only by resurrected with a resurrection scroll once you die. If all players get killed the game is over, you have to start again.

With these rules the game gets much more immersive (you really feel you are trapped in the dungeons..) and challenging, teamplay is not an option, teamplay is a MUST, and each class must play its role perfectly (Warrior = Tank, Rogue = support, mage = magic destructor when things get hard)

All abilities also become much more usefull (warrior repairs, rogue trap disabler, mage recharge staves).

Every single scroll, potion, and item now is usefull, just a non-magical armor with good armor class becomes a treasure as well as weapons, books... etc

Try it i'm sure u won't regret it ! Just made 2 attempts and we got killed at level 7, it was so intense, really looking forward to beat the game with this rules!

Back in good old days we've made it to lvl 6 Hell Difficulty (war + rog), killing Dia twice - on normal and NM. Unfortunately, now i've got 6112 problem, so no ironman for me.

Why don't you just open the 6112 port in your router?

You can try also just to disable Windows defender and firewall while playing diablo.

Last thing is hamachi works pretty well with the GOG version ! :D

I've tried literally everything, including complicated OpenVPN variants - and it just doesn't work. Provider hints that this is because I need to buy "static public IP" from them. Hamachi is good for casual play, but in this case completely useless - because it lags periodically for 1-2 seconds, which is critical for Ironman. I've also installed Gameranger, we could try that, but not really sure if it is better than Hamachi, since method is the same.

Yeah we have noticed that lag... so battlenet lags less than hamachi ? Is it better Bnet than hamachi ?

I have already gameranger it works great in Age of Empires and such so we can try if you want to ? :D

Yes, battle net doesn't lag. However, there can be problems with connection even for those who made it through 6112 port error ) Like... one creates the game and another doesn't see it or can't join because of "high latency".

As for gameranger, yes, we can try, at least do some test (for some minutes).
