wad1m: But workaround is only when I want to change difficulty in single player. If I had a save from multi (no matter which level) are you sure it won't work? Just test it if you can: new game -> multi > hell difficulty.

advowson: Diablo does not have the ability to save multiplayer games. It can save multiplayer heroes, but heroes have no difficulty level associated with them. A multiplayer save is a new feature in DevilutionX, so even if someone sent you such a save, you would need to use DevilutionX to be able to open it. Based on the earlier part of the thread, you have not gotten DevilutionX to run for you, so you would not be able to use a multiplayer save.

If you could get someone to send you a multiplayer hero file, you could use that to do what you want.
Well, I have multiplayer save multi_0.sv with a character on nightmare difficulty - and everytime I load the game I have this on nightmare. If that's working, why not the same save with another difficulty? If the save file has the same name I don't see a problem. But if you really tested that's ok, you may be right...

multi_0.sv is a multiplayer hero save file. It contains your character, spells, items, etc. It does not contain a dungeon, the NPCs, or a difficulty level. Each time you load the program Diablo.exe, and create a game with that hero, you can choose on what difficulty you want to play in that game, subject to the character level requirements for difficulty.
