svfn: it can be windowed with Dxwnd using the original ddraw, but there is really no point to since DX wrapper works on bnet.

if you want to go on battle.net with DX version, just copy BATTLE.snp, bncache.dat, BNUpdate.exe to DX folder.

StormyFacade: Don't you need the menu option to be coded into the game for it to work?

Also I'm pretty sure it won't work, because the file verification for battlenet is very strict.
Я показал видео как классическую версию запустить в окне.
Я показал видео как играть через battle.net в не классическую версию и тоже в окне.

Alright, followed the video, now I have some serious graphical display errors. I will post some pictures.

Red circles show where graphics are missing, I blocked out the character name, it displays properly.

I was having text missing all over the place, virtually unplayable before right now. It's got a ton of issues but it seems to work alright.

Still having the problem... Any fixes yet?

are you running classic Diablo.exe? the one for Bnet? untick everything in its Properites > Compatibilty.

disable any overlay programs like LogiOptions (Logitech).
I had the same problem. Exited Display Fusion and it solved the issue.

Read the thread again, you have to move D Classic's Bnet files to the new version and edit the registry to connect to the new gateway. The text won't sync up with the boxes but everything is clickable and I've found no other way to get online multiplayer working.
i have the same issue with blank battle net boxes on windows 10 so i installed it on windows 7 and problem solved lol. the battle net boxes displayed the text properly and i was able to create an account and password for diablo classic. yay.

Man, thank you. I was going nuts trying to figure this out!

It a problem with video driver settings (must be set to "keep aspect ratio") and 3rd party tools that running from sys.tray. Check this hole thread and Diablo article on GOG Support site. You must turn of\exit\kill in Tak manager any idle not needed programs. And aspecially any input\video tools, like MSI Afterburner or any kind of mouse helper\keybinding (even if that tool from mouse driver).

Also un-check (and then check back?) any checkboxes in Compatibility tab of exe files. GOG put it to all exe for any game even if that not needed.

I apologize but I can't really understand your english. English is not my native language. Also,I performed a "clean boot" (which I read on GOG's article about the issue) but it sill persists.

If you are having issues with accessing Battle.net multiplayer mode due to missing menu text then there is a possibility that a third party application is interfering with the game(for example: LogiOptions.exe, part of Logitech drivers for keyboards/mice). The potential workaround for this problem would be to launch the game in 'clean boot' mode, you can find instructions HERE.
Win8\10 actually do not allow real "clean boot"... or any other mode than normal one. And you must use third party tools to edit boot options and autostartup-programs list. It not work as on screenshots from Microsoft: Task Manager show only few programs in Startup Tab.
Just check process list (advanced Tab, nor very first screen of TM) in Task Manager for something like Geforce Experience exe of LogiOptions.exe after normal Windows boot.

Yeah I have an AMD GPU and I don't have a logitech device. Anyway, I fixed it by closing Acer Quick Access Service.

Thanks for the help though.
I don't want to be the one to revive old posts but...it's 2022 and I'm STILL trying to get past the "empty text boxes" at Diablo 1 battle.net...

Anyone to help? It's hard to keep just closing third-party software and try to figure it out wich one is affecting the game...
