This is way too difficult for me.
There are too many different keypresses to remember and some of them just don't work when you need them to work.
A game that's based on this rather pathetic lame humour shouldn't be so hard that you have to play the same bit over until you finally get it right.

Controlers are a thing and humor is subjective in fact this game other then a reame with graphics missing the piont I think the O.G one wasn'a pc game I could be wrong though.. But I don't think it was on pc till this releast so if corrent this is a early 2000's humor based game that seemed to largey been a console targeted game.Ip .. Besides its not that complicated .. Its aactually one of the far more simplier games on pc for keyboard and mouse .. Granted I prefer controlers but still

I am using a Logitech F310 controller.
The game tells me to distract the policemen with one button, (left on hte directin pad) which hypnotizes them.
That works. But then I'm supposed to clone myself from the Mayor.
But the Clone button (up on the direction pad) just does hypnotize now the same as (left on the pad).
It's impossible.

Either you got a glitch/bug or something is screwy going on.. I forgot if button remapping is possible in this game .. And I forgot if that controller is the version with the X and d input switch setting .. So maybe you might want to check the button mapping if this game has a remap feature and if thats not interfering then I would say if that controller does have a setting to switch from X to D input try toggling the setting to the other one .. As some games hate one or the other setting and need switched to whatever input the controller is not set on..

Granted its been awhile sense I played the game so maybe its a timing thing or something .. I ain't sure as its been sometime sens I played the remake/rerelease because of somethings the devs of this rerelease/remake didn't sit well with me(they basically said the game they hated and thought those who like the game are bad for liking it ) So till I am over the fact that was said not playing the remake

I'm using an Xbox controller and it isn't too bad. But you're right, there are a bunch of buttons that you need to get right so just keep trying if you like the game. I'm stuck on the fourth mission...keep being spotting before I can use the holobob...I have no chance of getting to town hall!! will just have to keep retrying. Hope this helps.
