When I try to delete a unit from the queue of a City Center I get a confirmation window ("Do you want to remove ..."). When I click the "OK" button in this window both the confirmation window and the City Center window disappear with the same click. After that the game does not respond anymore, neither on mouse clicks nor on key combinations. It only beeps on mouse clicks. I have to kill and restart the game.

I play the game with Wine on Linux (1.8.3 and 1.9.16) and have tried it with or without desktop emulation, without success so far. Does anybody else have the same problem? Is there any fix or workaround available?

As this may be a game or a Wine bug, can anyone who plays this game on Windows please check this behavior on Windows?

That's weird. I don't remember the games (D1 & D2) locking up at all on my 64bit win7 system. My data cap for the month is nearly up but I still have a lot of 00:00 - 07:00 data left, so I'll download the game (Deadlock 1?) tomorrow morning and check because I can't really remember whether or not I ever removed stuff from the City Center building queue in particular.

No hurry! I'm afraid this is not a game bug, but rather a problem how Wine handles the pop-up windows. To me it looks like the game thinks one of the pop-up windows is still open (and thus the rest of the application is locked) but Wine does not display it anymore. So it would be interesting if on Windows both pop-up windows also disappear at the same time, with one click at the "OK" button of the confirmation window.

And yes, it's Deadlock 1. Sorry, I did not mention the version in the reply to your post, only here in the topic line.

Sorry for the wait. I just checked in a new game. I ordered a new colonizer be built and then deleted it from the queue. I got the message asking if I was sure and managed to successfully close it by either pressing ENTER or clicking on 'OK'

By the way, Deadlock 2 has a completely different gui if you want try it out. Perhaps download the demo and check. It's mostly the same game otherwise, except with some improved features, sea bases and a weird campaign.

Thanks for testing it! So it's most likely a problem with Wine. Maybe someone finds a tweak or a workaround for it.

OK, I'll try it out, hopefully it works better under Wine.

eiii: ...
Just so you know, just checking cost me about 4 hours! One does not simply start a Deadlock game and not finish it :)

Only 4 hours? You are fast. :)

Unfortunately Deadlock 2 has even more problems under Wine. It ends up with a black screen all the time. :(

Ah sorry to hear that. Are there perhaps easy-ish ways to emulate winxp in Wine? Like a virtualpc equivalent or something?
This bug seems to be fixed with Wine 1.9.20. At least I cannot reproduce it anymore by adding a unit to the production queue of the City Center and then remove it from the queue.
