Hello GOG-team!

Could it be that the german-version of Darksiders is not uncut? Even in the prologue when War is fighting the demons every civilian cannot be harmed at all. Not that I want to attack the civilians but this is very irritating when the street broke and the civilian just stands there without doing anything at all, just watching "Hell on Earth" breaks loose.

The German version is censored, yes. The English version, which has a separate installer, is not censored :)

That's good to know. A shame it is censored, but I really apreciate that we still have access to the uncensored version. I hate when services strip you down to one of the versions.

Note that this is literally the ONLY censorship in the entire game, once you're past the short prologue you won't face any censored content ever again. Source.
I have heard several times about censorship in German versions. Is it really that common ? Are most games censored ?

Not most but a buttload of games, yes. I guess you're not a German-speaking Swiss dude, otherwise you'd surely know. It was worse back in the 90's, though, when the only way to get some games released in Germany was replacing all human characters with robots and whatnot. Since then things have gotten a bit better but massive bullshit censorship still keeps happening all the time.

Thanks for your answer. You're right, I'm a French-speaking Swiss dude :) What you say makes me remember playing the first Turok game on the N64, and for some reason it was the german version and it indeed had cyborgs instead of humans, but for a long time I did not know that the uncensored version had humans. I think I actually liked the game that way, but in games where they remove larger parts of content, I agree that it's certainly annoying.

Ah yes, Turok. I remember how my buddy got it for the N64. So we played it and fought those robots, at some point we looked at the screenshots on the back of the box and were like "woah, there are gonna be some cool tribal dudes later on!". Sigh, how naive we were. And how lazy the guys responsible for the German release were, keeping screenshots from the uncensored version on the box. :P
Why do they censor games so much, for Australian and German colleagues?

To ensure that it is legal to sell/buy their games in those countries. Australia has some fairly silly laws and it's only very recently that their Adults Only rating was introduced, even then there are certain types of content that will make it impossible to get even that rating. Germany had/has some similiar issues.

So, then, those countries (or any other) DON'T have Democracy... The people don't rule the people and certainly the laws don't serve the people's best interests, be they for consumer purposes or anything else. Isn't there any way for the problematic laws to be gone, by public and majority demand?
