Make not much sense. The patch is still a "alpha/ beta thing" and needs more time to come as an complete language patch. But the good thing is, the creator is actually working on it. If it is in a final or near of final state I will post it here ;)

Actually, the original English version of this game had subtitles that you could enable.

There *was* an English subtitles patch available many years ago -- I used it when I played through the game. I found a link on an Italian site to it, but it's dead, and I can't find it anywhere else.

So what happened to the original English version? It had a secret level too! Can we get it anywhere?

I Recently bought an old Disc version. But it doesn't seem to have Subtitles either.

The english version did not have subtitles at all.
But I can confirm that my spanish boxed copy had english voices but it was subtitled even in the cutscenes. So probably it was the same in the rest of languages.

I'm updating existing english subtitles right now, fixing errors and adding new lines. It's quite easy, I don't know why anyone didn't do it all this years.

I have tested your file. At the start of the game, the subtitles are missing from the opening video. When I made the German patch for the game, I also tried this method and this also did not work. so had to find another way ;-)
Have you tested the subtitles.int yourself and if so, in which mode? 3dfx, d3d or software?

Try to redownload, I fixed one system typo preventing file from loading

Also, I don't know which version of the game you use (I don't have vanilla game now to check), but for example in Renewal mod there is an invisible checkbox in the menu you need to click for subtitles.

On my version of the game (Renewal mod + DX11 renderer + Upscaled textures + Widescreen mod) everything is working.

At the moment I use the gog installer version without mods in 3dfx mode. And there the subtitles are not displayed.
