I'm really interested in this game. I played the demo on Steam and I really enjoyed it. It's also demo that got me worried. The videos don't play at all in the Steam version. The gameplay is fine, but the cut scenes don't show up at all. Is that problem on the GoG version too? I know the GoG team update their games to run on newer machines, but I just want to make sure the GoG version doesn't have this problem.

Also, does Steam usually have this sort of problems of games not being compatible? I've read that the Steam version of Full Spectrum Warrior doesn't start up at all ( I know this last one isn't GoG or Ceville related, but I figure I'd ask while I was at it).

I fired up my Steam copy of Ceville to check this. Videos are working fine for me - opening logos and intro movie all play. I can't speak to the GOG version because I don't own it, but I would assume it's working just as well.

I would assume that the demo on Steam intentionally left out the videos. There's no need to include them for those who just want to see what the gameplay is like.

Incidentally, my Steam copy of Full Spectrum Warrior also runs just fine.

Damn, really? Because I've read posts on the Steam forums about the full game of Ceville having the same problem as the demo and the same with FSW. That's weird. :/ Are you using Windows XP or 7?

I'm on an XP Pro SP3 notebook.

Edit: Checking the thread in the Steam forums, it looks like Win7 is the problem, but can be fixed by playing in a window. Have you tried that?

Edit 2: I would definitely submit a ticket to GOG about this. They need to know if the game is not fully compatible on Win7, and may be able to offer a fix.

Okay, that's why you can play those games without problems. :p Well, the system requirements on GoG lists that Ceville is compatible with Windows 7, but the requirements on Steam doesn't list 7. Well, thanks for trying to help. I guess I should have mentioned I'm using Windows 7. :p
Had the same question.

Thanks.
