Hi.

I own the game on steam, and it just the biggest mess of game crashing I have ever seen in a title.

I am wondering if the folks on GOG have figured out this mess, and maybe found a way to stop all of the game crashes?

I need to know this before I purchase the version from GOG.

They fixed most of the common crashes like the prologue mirror crash.
There are some people having some crashes but those seem to be isolated to W10.
Sadly though the common issue/bug of not being able to beat the game due to the instant kill during the last part of the game still exists and has not been fixed so you can't beat the game.

Well as far as most of crashes are concerned that is great to know. Hmmm, hard to beat the game with that bug.

I know of a tool which can be used on the steam version which slows down the timer of sorts so you can finish the game, but I don't know if that would work on the GOG version or not.

Cheers, and thanks again for the reply, it's very much appreciated.

What's the tool? Is it the unofficial DCoTE Patch found here?

I believe that is it. There are settings in which you can edit which would allow you to finish the game. I have no idea if it will work on the GOG version or not, but it is worth a try.

Well, someone posted an issue basically asking for it to be made fully compatible with the GOG version executable as some of the options don't do anything on the GOG version (which also implies that some options do work as they only raised it against certain features, not that it doesn't work at all).

The xbox version contained a load of source code that allowed me to reverse engineer the scripts and build a compiler to add a work around for the blue light fix.
The PC release version had differences to the source code from the xbox version which meant the xbox source couldn't be used on its own.
So I built most of a decompiler for the scripts that worked for the ones that were needed for the work around but didn't work for all scripts.
The source it generated was much harder to understand than the commented xbox source though so not worth releasing as the xbox code had sensible variable names and comments.
If people can identify the crash points I can most likely find the problems in the script source and fix them (which would work on any release of the game).

In this discussion, the OP provided for that:

hats all you need to download and replace the steam exe with: : https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B88Pcnu5Q3HmUWFZQWVsVUVBQWs
This may not be useful to everyone, but my anecdotal experience shows the game to be complete-able. I bought a retail version of the game back when it was new, & though I encountered some glitches (not the mirror, but the insta-kill during the ending climax) I was still able to finish the game with due diligence & no special patches. I haven't completed the GOG version yet but I'm hoping it, too, will be fully complete-able.
