I recently purchased the broken sword series (on the promo deal) I downloaded and installed the first game (Shadow of the Templars-Director's cut) and when I launched the game, the following error occured:

"The program can't start because OpenAL32.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

I uninstalled and reinstalled it twice. I also redownloaded it from GOG and I'm still getting this message whenever I try to launch. I also installed it as administrator, ran it in compatability mode, and still nothing is working. Any suggestions?

Same error message for me as well read: .... "OpenAl32.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." :(

I'm running Windows 7. Does same error even when "run as administrator".

I had the same problem but it turns out aslakkar's solution did the trick.
