When I am attempting to save in the original Broken Sword I get the following error message pop up ...

Console is ready
Debugger started, type exit to return to the game or help to list commands and variables
Error fetch frame-22 doesn't exist in resource

Any ideas what is causing this issue? How can I avoid this error message and save the game w/o risk of it crashing? Thanks in advacne
Have you checked this thread: http://www.gog.com/forum/broken_sword_series/bs1_original_version_crashes_on_save/page1

GOG should at least make it sticky if they won't bother fixing the issue.

Yeah, I did check that thread out ... it helped prior when I encountered this problem. This one seems new though, when I redownloaded the game. I've never gotten this error message before, and trying suggestions in the old thread (while managing to fix the crashing) still don't allow me to save sadly.

Edit - Finally managed to fix it by using a minor variant of previous suggestions. Thanks for the reply & linking the older thread. Would be nice if GOG fixed this.

Hey Trev, can you please let me know how you fixed this problem?? Because I'm having the same problem, and I am not very computer savvy at all.

Trev, I would like to get the solution, too. I have the same problem! Please let us know, how do you fixed it!
Just create another folder within the main game folder and edit the savepath-line in the sword1.ini, pointing it to the newly created folder.
E.g. "X:\Games\GOG Games\Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars\saves\", without the quotes.

The game will now instantly throw you into a new game, unless you've managed to save your game previously. Don't worry, the main menu appears if it finds a saved game.

PS. I recommend using Notepad++ to edit the .ini file.

Apologies for missing the earlier question ... I'm glad a detailed solution was given. :)
I am 66 years old and a PC idiot but I do love adventure games. I am having the same problem but I really don't understand what I am suppose to do to correct it and I am scared to death that I might mess up my PC if I try. Can you give me more detail step by step actions to reach the desired results. An old shut-in would be most appreciative! Thanks!

Go to your game folder (the default installation directory is C:\GOG Games\Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars) then right click with the mouse ----> choose new and then choose folder, name the new folder saves.

Then put your mouse pointer above the file sword1.ini, right click and choose edit, then search the document for the word savepath and you will see your game path, add to it at the end \saves so the look should look (if you using the default installing directory) like that:

savepath=C:\GOG Games\Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars\saves

Now you could save your game.
Eureka we have done it! Did as you directed with total success! Played the game. Saved the game. Restored the game! I cannot thank you enough for helping me out. As I said earlier I am a PC idiot and without help from kind people like you I would be constantly in the "deep s__t". The guys on this forum rock! Many thanks again!

Sounds like the game doesn't have permission to save the games.
Try installing the game in another folder than "program files" and "program fles (x86)" and run it with admin rights.
Sometimes this helps.

I tried saving Gog galaxy and Broken Sword in a different file when installing and then running at administrator but it hasnt worked :( when i click save in the game, it doesn't give me an opportunity to right a name, it just says game saved, but the restore game isn't highlighted and when i quite then re launch, it just says new game
