HenitoKisou: Did you fixed only two priests on Well Done difficulty in last level of episode 3 or it was intentional? Because it's repeatable. Third priest will spawn when Tchernobog achieves his transformation in final wave of enemies here. Throwing these two from cliff will not always kill them and unlock the door when they already transform into Beasts.

That area's getting reworked for the next update.

Originally it was 4 at once, which was too hard for most people (even though you could insta-kill by shotgunning them off a ledge), and the more recent versions have 2 sets of 2 — one set to get in the temple area and another set in the last enemy wave on the same staircase. I think I may change it so that all 4 are placed throughout the level in completely different areas, so that you don't have to fight more than one at a time. The only problem with this is that the beasts can get stuck underwater, so I'll have to make sure any vulnerable beasts don't do anything crucial like dropping keys or triggering events.
Welp looks like I finally got it to load! I just haven't figured out how to get the cutscenes to load, despite trying to fix the paths!

Example:

[Install]
; source path will be set by the installation process
SourceDir=C:

[Episode1]
CutSceneA=C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\One Unit Whole Blood\dw1a.smk
CutWavA=C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\One Unit Whole Blood\dw1a.wav
CutSceneB=C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\One Unit Whole Blood\dw1b.smk
CutWavB=C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\One Unit Whole Blood\dw1b.wav

Since cutscenes are stored in the same folder as the map files no need for path to them.

When typing shortcut don't use the one with the addon because is template and GOG updated installer to 2.0.0 (if you use it already and changed install folder to new anyway), so actually you always need type two complete pathes to your own install directory of OUWB's DOSBox conf files not just one. I have them on D:\GOG Games\One Unit Whole Blood\ you probably had different ones and just tried to use shortcut from the mod.

"D:\GOG Games\One Unit Whole Blood\DOSBOX\DOSBox.exe" -conf "D:\GOG Games\One Unit Whole Blood\dosboxBlood.conf" -conf "D:\GOG Games\One Unit Whole Blood\dosboxBloodDW.conf" -noconsole -c exit

GOG Games\One Unit Whole Blood\dosboxBlood.conf is for the general game settings and GOG Games\One Unit Whole Blood\dosboxBloodDW.conf is chosen name for conf of the addon.

Excellent! Everything is working now!
How do I run this? Halp. I just downloaded OUWB fresh from Gog just to play this mod but I can't get it to work.
Guys

I have problems running this on Win 7. I tried everything suggested here. Here are what I've done:

- A fresh installation of OUWB (Gog version, of course)
- Extracting the files of Death Wish (to the same folder)
- Editing "dosboxBloodDW.conf" as suggested. Last lines of the corresponding file are as follows:

[autoexec]
# Lines in this section will be run at startup.

@ECHO OFF
mount C "."
imgmount D game.inst -t iso
c:
cls
blood.exe -ini dw.ini

exit

and I tried to run "DW GOG" shortcut, with administrator privileges.

result is: I cannot launch the game. The window just closes after the screen with red header saying "Initializing sth"

any suggestions?

solved, just check the moddb comments

Anyone have any idea how to lower the gamma even further in dosbox? When I load up this mod it seems like gamma is set one level too high, but in the blood settings gamma is already set to its lowest setting. Is there a way to adjust gamma even lower in the .conf file?

EDIT: I changed the "machine=" setting to "vesa_nolfb", and that seemed to make the gamma a bit lower (darker areas appear more dark now). It used to be set to "svga_s3" Any idea if there's another setting or machine emulation I could enter into dosbox to lower gamma further?

Hi Death wish runs very good,But it keeps getting a CTD on the E1m2 lost highway after playing it for a while,I have tried this with the blood launcher,and Skulldogs blood launcher,and the same results,I am also using win 7 64 bit with an Nvidea 650m video card on a HP gaming laptop,So any help would be great.Thanks
I create a little fix.

Unzip in the Blood folder. Overwrite. Start DW.lnk (is a shortcut).

Thanks for the fix,I will give it a try a little later,BTW will this fix work with skull dogs Blood launcher too?
Don't think so.

This fix, you can use it with any mod. Just be sure to copy all the files of a mod into the blood folder. Nothing in folders!!!

Every mod got it's own ini file.

Now open the conf file from my fix, go to the bottom and change the name of the ini file in the name of the mod you want to play.

Click on the shortcut from my fix to launch the mod

It's not really a fix, it's just the right way to launch a mod.
Death Wish is a seriously fantastic addon, it may just be my all-time favorite third-party addon for any classic shooter, beating many of the greats from Doom II. The fact that the author Bloatoid one-man'd it all and somehow kept things fresh through 30 huge and highly detailed levels using the old crash-happy BUILD editor is extremely impressive to me. He didn't even have to give it a story and yet he did anyway with nice cutscenes, decent voice acting and those awesome little tomes you can read throughout the game that really flesh things out further. All this with no new resources either, just clever texture and sprite usage and effective recoloring via BUILD's handy palette swapping. If Bloatoid released this back in the day he would've gotten hired for sure, and if he didn't I'd be protesting in his defense to ensure he went places, cause this mapset was truly brilliant, far outdoing Monolith's and Sunstorm's efforts for the expansions. What a blast to play!
I'd like to smooth out a bit of the sprite pixelation that happens when I'm not using any scalers. I'm looking to cut down on some of the blockiness of the enemies without ruining the visual fidelity too much. These are my current settings in dosboxBloodDW.conf:

output=openglnb
machine=vesa_nolfb
scaler=none

I heard openglnb does a bit of smoothing, and I've selected vesa_nolfb as my emulated machine because its gamma and shadow levels look better on my monitor. But I have the scaler set to none. Is there a particular scaler setting that provides a good mix of smoothing and sharpness so that everything doesn't look like a blurry mess at 640 x 480?

These are the scaler options: none,normal2x,normal3x,advmame2x,advmame3x,hq2x,hq3x, 2xsai,super2xsai,supereagle,advinterp2x,advinterp3x, tv2x,tv3x,rgb2x,rgb3x,scan2x,scan3x.

I may have my settings all confused (especially in regards to what the scaler and cdvolume settings do), but I'm trying to smooth out some of the blocky pixels. I realize it isn't ideal, but my eyes are getting tired :) Thanks for any help!

Death Wish 1.4 has been released some days ago. If you haven't played this fantastic mod yet, then now is the right time to change that.

You'll find the mod here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/death-wish-for-blood/downloads/death-wish-14
I was having issues getting Deathwish to run before but figured out the problem today. Gonna play it this weekend!

Everything runs fine EXCEPT for some reason when I start it the screen is stretched and there's a black bar at the bottom, as if its not scaling to my monitor correctly (and not having bars on the side to keep the right aspect ratio) I looked through the DW dosbox config and couldn't find anything to fix this. How would I fix it? I can just change it in game to 800 x 600 in windowed DOSBOX makes it work but fullscreen with sidebars would be preferable. Thank you!
