Awesome, but you really should consider putting that bit of info in the store page.

You think the originals might be superior to the remakes? My 4k monitor says, "Probably not"...;) At least these GOG originals will be stripped of the gawd-awful DRM that afflicted the original versions of the games--which I have. That may be one thing slowing the process on the originals. Before these remakes came to GOG, I had already stripped both games from my installed game base because I got really bored with doing work-arounds for the ancient, discontinued DRM schemes the originals were plagued with. Anyway, downloading the remasters now--judging from the screenies GOG has posted, should be treats @ 4k.

I know that some folks favor original games over remakes--even if the remakes are demonstrably better--I cannot say I agree with that, personally. As long as they are decent and manage to improve on the originals, I tend to favor remakes. But that certainly is not a criticism of your point of view...!...;)

Well the thousands of remaster players in the steam forums say otherwise. But well have fun with the crash issues and lost save files if they persist in the gog version. Just a golden rule for life: "Remaster isnt always better."

I have the classic and remaster at STEAM, the classic was alot better actually.
I have to concur from firsthand experience on that one with this title.

the STEAM forums are very jaded on this title and the classic/remaster bit.
to me it seems the only people that prefer the remaster are those that haven't actually played the original version.

I will take a copy in anticipation of the classic version making its way here soon though (hopefully), i am not even gonna bother downloading the remaster.

The originals for me run and look better plus on the practical side of things take up less room on the hard drive. I can run the original games at higher graphics settings than I can the HD versions and as a result the original versions actually look better than what I can achieve with the HD versions. Now if I had a high end PC it would be a different situation but I don't and that is the situation for many many gamers. All us gamers are not rich enough to be able to afford higher end rigs to game on . I personally think this trend of these 30-50-80 GB HD games has gotten ridiculously out of hand. I mean we are potentially at the point of only being able to get 10 games on a 1TB HHD. That is just silly imo.

I hope that's true for the classic version, too.

There's some areas in the remaster that don't look as good and actually have things like missing particle effects

Also noticed some bugs here or there, the part with the woman lurching over a baby pram thing, and you see her shadow on the wall, her shadows head is entirely cut off in the remaster .. And that was just what I noticed from playing it for 10 mins

Indeed. For a long while the UE3 based remasters were down to "Mixed / Mostly Negative" reviews on Steam due to widespread crashes & save-game corruption (that were never in the UE2 based "Very / Overwhelmingly positive" originals). I certainly hope GOG puts the originals up here to match the Humble Store's Bioshock 1 (non-Remaster) DRM-Free release that's been rock-solid stable. And hopefully, Bioshock 2 "classic" when it eventually does come here, will contain Minerva's Den.

Yeah, Minerva's Den DLC must be in the classic release!
