So im seeing a lot of people saying the remasters are really bad. I haven't tried the steam version as i basically quit buying games there except for a few like elder scrolls/fallout and a few paradox games like CK2.

I haven't tried bioshock 2 yet but bioshock 1 crashes at random and not sure why it does. Does everyone else have the same problem and what could be a possible work around?

I held on those game all this years due to the bugs (progression breaking bugs) I used retail and pirated versions with no luck however I tried the remaster from GOG and I'm happy to report I was able to finish the game and it looks gorgeous at 4K res. And if you use Galaxy it also gives you achievements.

Overall Definitely worth your money and time!

I been trying to enjoy it. Bioshock one crashes on me and deleted my entire save through neptunes bounty and decided to stop playing

I did a full playthrough of Bioshock 1 remaster and did not encounter any bugs. Will try Bioshock 2 at some point as well and will report any bug if it occurs.

They are called really bad remasters because near to nothing has been remastered, despite several things could have been done...
...espacially a port to UnrealEngine 4 and introduction of near zero loading times, TAA, resolution scale and so on.
They are not called really bad remasters because of what was done.

Try going to:

%APPDATA%\BioshockHD\Bioshock\

Open Bioshock.ini

find TextureStreamingMemoryLimit and change to match your GPU VRAM
and TextureStreamingDistanceLimit and change to 10000

This stopped the crashing I was having in Bioshock 2 remaster hopefully helps with Bioshock 1 remaster as well.
If not try some of the other fixes here:

This worked for me thanks for the tip.
I watched video comparisons on Youtube and the originals look better to me. Throw in reports of some remaster specific bugs and I don't see why I'd bother with them?

Playing remastered first time through on laptop less then a year old. No glitches or crashes so far. Thanks to GOG for this ability to play my games where I cannot get internet at my cabin in the mountains! Quit your bitching and enjoy, brothers!

I'm a half hour from finishing the game, and not one crash so far. Don't know what to tell ya man. Gameplay is great, graphics are good, but timing on some of the audio is out every so often. Once this game is done it's Bioshock 2 for me next. Good luck!
I know for a fact Bioshock 2 Remastered is prone to random crashes.

I manage to beat the game by saving a lot.

Save before each time the Little Sister Harvest a Dead Splicer for example.
