Hi,

I have got a German compilation including Battle Isle 2 (as it was known in Germany). However, the 'Blue Byte Collection' compilation version I have only has midi music for Battle Isle 2 whereas the retail version of the CD version (as opposed to the floppy version) also had CD audio (apart from better animations). Which version does GOG sell for Battle Isle 2 - CD audio tracks or midi?

Cheers

Hi patrick,

I just checked, Battle Isle 2 comes with a list of mp3 songs, so that must be the old audio CD.

But be warned, Battle Isle 2 is in English only.....I did own the original myself (German copy) and the speech was, me thinks better ;)

Hi,

You might be confusing it with part three - part two only has speech when the computer console gets initialised :-).

Are you sure ??? I have still got a CD version of BI3 (as it was known in Germany - including the printed manual ;-)) I bought it at the time and the music definitely is (Windows) midi only! I mean the Windows (!) version (preferably NT(4) - which later became Windows 2000 (NT 5.0), XP (NT 5.1) and all those that followed (NT 6.0 and later)), i.e. BI3 (in Germany) and not the CD version of the DOS version of BI2 (Germany) that originally actually really used to have CD audio ;-). As I said, my version of BI2 only has midi - and I do not really complain as I happen to have both a Roland SC-55 as well as a Roland SCB-7 - I also have a Roland MT-32 but that sounds considerably worse with BI2 than the two Roland hardware General Midi devices I just mentioned ;-).

???? Bit confused, I thought we were talking about BI2???

Battle isle 2 under goodis you have the soundtrack as mp3.....

and just checked, same for 3 both do contain soundtrack.zip....

The install of BI3 comes with a mid folder for ingame music....

And to make it easier ;)

If you need more specific info let me know, I have all GOG versions ;) As I said, I preferred the original German version, but my CD's got too badly scratched :(
