Greetings and hello everyone! I'm really hoping you guys can help me out here. I've been playing these games for ages now (originally had them on disc but those discs have been lost to time and bad roommates), and I recently indulged in the sale they had for the D&D set the other day. I've installed them on my home P.C. and I am having the oddest graphical bug. It happens on ALL of the Black Isle games that will load (I can't even get Neverwinter Nights to load, it crashes upon starting).

I've no idea what it is. I've updated my graphics drivers, checked my settings, whole nine yards, and I'm really bummed out that I can't enjoy a nice gaming marathon next week over the holiday with these classics. If anyone can help me find and resolve this issue I'll give you all my internets for a year. Screen shot is from BG1, but it's the exact same issue in all the Black Isle games. And it's random. If I minimize my screen back to my desktop and go back into the game, it clears up, but then after a few seconds it chunks out again in those odd perfectly shaped squares of blur and jacked up rendering. It even captures it when I save the game in the screenshot the game grabs when you save. I'm thoroughly stumped.

Thanks in advance.

System specs: Old as dirt (but used to play these games just fine).
OP Sys: Windows XP 32 bit.
G-Card: ATI Radeon 4300/4500 series.

EDIT: I should note that it only does this when in the game. If I'm in the menus or at the title screen or anything of that nature everything is perfectly fine. I really have no idea what is going on.

First, and most important, make sure your games are *not* installed inside 'Program Files'. If they are, uninstall them and reinstall using custom, and place them somewhere like C:\Games\

Next, make sure you have DDrawFix installed. The GOG version should install it by default, so if it *is* installed, try uninstalling it. Simply run the setup-ddrawfix.exe file inside your BG folder.

Then run the config program to ensure your baldur.ini is populated properly, and ensure the game speed is set at 30.

Now, in-game check your graphics settings. Ensure transparent shadows is checked, and try toggling the 'BLT' options.

You are a saint and a scholar! I'm not sure which part of this process fixed it, but it seems to be resolved in its entirety, so huzzah. Thank you! Obligatory cat tax attached!
