Hello, I am new to the Baldur's Gate series, so I don't know whether that is intended or not, but in dialogues characters often only have a voice when they say the first sentence, after I have answered to them I can read the text and know what they are saying, but I don't hear anything. Is that intended or an issue with the game? I would appreciate help of every sort.

That's working as intended, and quite common among games of its time. Some of the more important things are voice acted, while most aren't, to save money and hard drive space. You'll find that NPCs generally have a lot more different things to say than in more modern games which voice act everything.
Thanks for that; I almost expected it!
