When I am in game, I see black spots on screen if the object is animated... and when I equip gear it causes black boxes to appear over my character in the inventory menu.
I'm running an Nvidia GTS 250 with Win 7 64-bit Pro. Any suggestions? thanks.
PS: I could post screens if needed. This is what I'm seeing.

Hope this helps

Nvidia engine cards often have problems running some of the Infinity Engine games like Baldur's Gate. However, there is a fix- http://www.shsforums.net/to pic/30840-ie-games-and-nvidia-series-8-video-cards/

In the first forum post the author links to a fixer utility which can solve the black box problem. It works like a charm for my 9800gt. Hope this helps.
All that I did was in the graphics options for the game, set the color to 16 bit and check the very last graphical option and the dreaded black boxes went away.

Awesome that took care of it thanks!
I have the problem with the wierd fog issue and slowdown. I tride the settings you described and instaling the newest Nvidia drivers, but the problems are still there. Anything else I can do? I run on Windows 7 64-bit.

It worked! Thank you very much for the help! Rep up!
Glad i could help. Enjoy the game! :)
A lot of these solutions worked for me, but the most elegant fix for my setup was just going into the game's setup program (found in the start menu area for the game) and turning 3D mode on. It basically just tells the game to use 3D Graphics Acceleration Hardware to handle the various special effects and rendering.

It also boosted the framerate A LOT during heavy spell effects, and allowed me to use 32-bit color without any issues.

The setup this worked well on is a Nvidea based notebook.
Thanks for these fixes... I'm noticing these boxes behind things like birds flying across the screen and some inventory items (just started the game - no idea how prevalent these will be).

Will try these fixes.
