Good afternoon everyone. So I decided to finally dive into Baldur's Gate (finally, I know), and I couldn't be more excited to put some serious time into this gem.

But before I do so I would like to have at least the widescreen mod and the bug fixes/tweaks patch installed. Other than those two, I want to play the game without all of the extra content (unless otherwise recommended).

I've searched and searched the forums and google trying to find some assistance in this task, and I've found a few links, but to no avail. I'm still pretty green when it comes to Macs and I have never used wineskin before so the links I've found have proven to be quite daunting at first glance.

Could anybody give me some pointers on how to get those two mods installed? It would be greatly appreciated!

I don't have a Mac, so I can't really help you with first-hand advice, but I can tell you that, according to the widescreen mod readme, it is not compatible with Mac. Quote:

"Mac
It is not currently possible to install the mod on Mac OSX. If you want to either figure out the offsets or give me a Mac and a copy of all IE games for that platform, I'd be happy to oblige. "

Skimming through the usual Baldur's Gate mod sites suggests that there is a Mac compatible fixpack for BG2, but not for BG1 -- even PC didn't have a unified fixpack. I imagine the problem with Mac versions would be the installation scripts.
I see, that's quite unfortunate. Well I have seen that there are other mods, especially on the gibberlings site that are Mac compatible. Can I just install those in any order I want or is there a specific mac modding guide somewhere I could follow?

The mod installation order is not Mac specific, it has to do with compatibility. Relatively, there are not that many mods for BG1, but a very broad rule for install order should be:

Fixes (Baldurdash etc.)
Unfinished Business
Quests
NPCs
Items
Tweaks
